Yeah, you can. There is a difference how you do it, though.

If you are NOT going to use HLAE, you will not see yourself in third person and each time you take damage your cam will shake like crazy. Here is a tutorial if you want to learn how to move the camera in 3rd person (smooths) without HLAE

If you are going to use HLAE, you will see yourself and the cam will be alright, but the recorded footage might be choppy most of the times. Here is a tutorial for smooths with HLAE

I personally find HLAE much more comfortable and you can do so many things with it that you wouldn't otherwise, like rotating your camera or moving around the map when you've paused the demo. Depends what you need it for after all

Hey, Vis. I have tried both methods and figured out what I actually need to do is much more simple but I still can't manage to find a way to do it. I'd like to set a static, third person camera (kind of like replays used to do) on pov demos. There is the drive function but that doesn't allow you to see your own self. So I ask again, is there any way to do it, and if there is could you go a little more in-depth about it? Thank you :)

As I said, the only way for you to see yourself in third person is to use HLAE. You can still have your camera static, just add mirv_ cams at the same place looking at the same direction at least 4 times during your demo and you have it.

Ohh, I see. And so if I want to set it, say next to a hill I have to go into "Drive" mode and put 4 mirv cams in the same place?--

i have also noticed the demo in the video is clearly stv, so he can easily go into spectator to set the cam paths.

No, once you have started your demo, pause it, go in third person (thirdperson in console) and then mirv_input camera. Then, you will be able to move around freely and you will see yourself too. If you do not go thirdperson first, only your hands will be visible.

Once you do mirv_input camera, find yourself a location where you want to record from, then type mirv_campath add in the console. Press escape, go to the end of the action that you want recorded, repeat the same stuff above.
NOTE: You might want to have something to aim at as a reference because you will have to manually go to your desired location each time using WASDXZ so the camera looks static.

After you've added your second camera and pressed escape, you can just unpause the demo, type mirv_campath add twice (doesn't matter where in your demo, input camera isn't necessary) so you have at least 4 points so you the smooth works, and flex it after
