Super comfy and sound amazing, I've had mine for over a year and wonder why people would pay more.

Every (not shit-cheap) model of AKGs I've ever used is super comfortable, and they sound amazing.

I have the k271 mkii, and they've got velvet pads. Can wear them all day without it bothering me

note: 7.1, being number of (virtual) channels, has nothing to do with quality of sound, and also really has no benefit for headphones (IN MY OPINION). As sound quality is fairly subjective your best bet is to try before you buy. If you want something on paper, I'd look at the driver size & frequency response, though. Too small of a driver and you won't have enough bass response. Also pay attention to impedance, all headphones can benefit from an audio amplifier but some cans will NEED one.

As far as brands go, I like AKG (as mentioned above), Sennheiser, Denon. Audiotechnica is also pretty good quality.

And yeah, read lots of reviews from several sources

edit: I see you already ordered something though

You'll be happy with the ATH-AD900's. I used closed cans for years and recently purchased open cans (AD700). The bass isn't that great but the sound stage is incredible and I can hear a lot of sounds from across the map. Enjoy!

capnfapnStochast1ccapnfapnCould somebody reccomend some headphones or a headset that are good at not leaking sound? I don't want my parents to know that I like to listen to SNSD christmas songs : /
Nobody can give you recommendations until you first give a price range and either your preferred music genres or what you prefer to listen to in your music. I could link you $5,000 headphones that do what you want but I assume that is out of your budget.

Sorry for not being very descriptive. Rock/punk/alternative/metal sorts of stuff is generally my favorite. Im not super picky about the budget but im hoping for something less than 200 dollars, preferably around 150 maybe?

No need to apologize, the world of headphones is very complex. Considering you really want to stay around $150 I highly recommend the V-MODA M-80 or the Sennheiser HD 25-1 II. However, the list over at http://www.head-fi.org/a/headphone-buying-guide is a very nice reference of the best headphones for all categories broken down by price. Anything you see on there is a good headphone if you want to do your own research.

I use AKG's, they are very VERY comfortable. They all have the "automatic adjusting headband" *same stuff steelseries uses on the siberia v2.

http://www.akg.com/ (international site that leads to the country site)

http://us.akg.com/akg-product-detail-us/q-701.html (headphones of my dreams)

http://us.akg.com/akg-product-detail-us/k-142-hd.html (I have these, got them for 80$ when they were 200$)

BEARTATO Normally I would probably agree with you, but these headphones are actually quite good. Razer does make some good products(deathadder anyone?) it's just kind of hit and miss with them. If you looked at the reviews for this it rated pretty highly with everyone saying it has good sound quality and is comfortable. The only issue might be with build quality of the connector, but I haven't had that in the year I've had these. The price is ok and usually it's at $40, which is a steal for headphones this nice.

8/10 would recommend

Everything made by "gaming" brands in terms of audio quality are all mediocre if not bad. Most people reviewing these products are going to be casual gamers, not musicians/audiophiles. Wintersun is telling the truth.

Vanilla keep in mind you're going to want something to drive the headphones like a soundcard or headphone amp to get the most out of your headphones. If you're using your motherboard there won't be as big as a difference as you think.
