The season lasts 8 weeks, plus a few weeks for playoffs. The fees are I believe $6.95 per month of premium and around $7 or so for league fees

What does premium do? And do we need it?

premium allows you to play in matches, so yes you do need it

60 bucks a season basically, not as bad if you look at it as 7 dollars a month.

Premium is essentially service time for ESEA(sorta like MMO's, it allows you to play in their league for however long you pay for).
The league fee is a one time initial fee you pay to play in the upcoming season.

Also this is probably something you should get situated before joining a team, lol

i dont think it comes anywhere near 60 bucks a season, considering regular season is 2 months, that's ~14 dollars for premium, and then another 7 for league fees is ~20 dollars.

Its not 60$/ season its more like $25 ish just cancel premium during the breaks in season unless you play in css pugs, because tf2 esea pugs are dead for the most part

This past season in open I paid for three months of premium and a league fee ($7.95 one time fee).

3($6.95) + $7.95 = $28.80 total

I can't tell you if rates will go up; I hope that helps. If you don't make it into playoffs, cancel your premium subscription and save yourself an extra $7.00.

I always round it off and just say $30.

Why were people downfragging the OP? It's a legitimate question and something we should all feel free talking about (as well as where the money goes).

My expenses a couple seasons ago were $20 for 3 months of premium plus $5 for league fees. Taxes apply. The season actually lasts like 9 or 10 weeks so you have to buy 3 months worth of premium.
