ok so i read through the thread and felt compelled to make an account to first of all say thank you and secondly say please don't fuck up

A successful betting site is one of the few things that creates interest in CSGO regular season, and it also helps create even more hype for playoffs and tournaments. It would b absolutely amazing if the site was ready for i52. I52 would be unreal if there was betting, but let's talk about why betting changed CSGO and why this site should be SIMPLE AS FUCK.

1. Betting increases viewer count

This is obvious, people don't really watch the regular season that much because the idea is that it doesn't really matter and they'd rather be playing. When you add betting suddenly the incentives change, it creates INTEREST.

2. Betting creates a devoted and interested fanbase

When betting got big in CSGO people watched all the games they could so they could predict better. They learned each teams strengths and weaknesses, who the best players were, who the best maps were. People write articles about fucking regular season games because the betting scene is so big. People actively seek out information on comp out of self interest which creates a demand for information about comp that people willingly fill because articles actually start getting read. Capitalism in action baby

So that's the good shit you can expect from betting, but it's not as simple as making some site and saying "why is no one betting?".

1. COPY CSGO LOUNGE

There are really dozens of reasons for this but I'll keep it trim. It's the industry standard, people expect betting sites to operate like it. People will et mad if they can't switch sides, people will get mad if your wonky draw rules are in place, people will get mad if a ddos happens and they aren't refunded. An yea people will bet against epsilon, they bet against NiP. People want to be able to wager anything in their backpack, let them (items worth less than a bud so as to avoid people wagering high value items with highly variable demand). Seriously, copy don't let it just inspire you, literally email the creator and ask for the source code, and then steal it anyway when he says no

2. Make schedules regular
I don't even know the esea-I schedule because fuck regular season w/o betting, but every match needs to be streamed, ideally a couple of matches on any night there's tf2 being played.

That's really all I can think to say rn, but seriously betting can change tf2 in amazing ways please don't fuck up an thank you for doing this.

if you had something on the home page that showed recent big wins on bets it would probably make people more likely to bet

Wow, at first when I only saw "1. COPY CSGO LOUNGE" I thought you're going to accuse me of making lounge's ripoff. Of course there are some things done right on lounges, but some can be done better like interaction with the bots, which is going to be more intuitive in this project, that being said I can't promise that everything will be handled in a similar manner, but I can give you my word that it'll be way more intuitive and you'll find your way immediately :)
EDIT: Can you have a draw in csgo though? (sorry for my ignorance)

Starkif you had something on the home page that showed recent big wins on bets it would probably make people more likely to bet

Do you know how the betting is going to work 100%? Is it just going to be like csgo lounge with the amounts of bets per team determining the percent or value of items you can win from the bet?

It'll work that way, I even already made a script distributing items between winners, so that part is quite done.

Awesome, and I'm also wondering what you will do about betting unusuals and how items will be valued. Are you going to do something similar to csgo lounge how knives are not allowed to be bet so maybe higher tier unusuals cant be bet or something like that?

All genuie, vintage or unique hats, miscs, paint cans, metals and keys are allowed if their value is lower/equal one pair of buds and their values are estimated using backpack.tf :]

Any plans for an API for grabbing matches, match times, odds, bets, etc without scraping? Could be helpful for people to write browser extensions and apps more easily.

Currently only have api for matches bets list, but there will be more options before beta :)

Being ready still doesn't mean it can take the hit of an event like i52, especially at such an early start. But I hope it works out fine. Probably will have to upgrade the infrastructure / bots, etc quite a bit for i52.

Looks amazing, any reason why esea and ugc aren't supported? Ugc HL finals are coming up and I know that's a division that "draws from a different pool" so to speak would be a nice way to grab interest from other segments. Definitely will be betting when I get back and donating some Bp expanded for the i52 rush

UGC is too big to start with it, no other reason for that, so once it works with others I will expand it :) ESEA might be a little more tricky but we'll see.
