Necrophagist is like a 50:50 ratio of solos vs riffs and even that is generous assumption to how many riffs there are. How good the solos are aside, that's awful. I group together Necrophagist with bands like Psyopus and Behold the Arctopus because it's for people who enjoy the technical aspect over the music aspect.

The members of Necrophagist are undeniably gifted technicians, but they are not skilled composers.

I buy a lot of my music online (bandcamp etc), but some things are nice to have a physical copy of. Most of my shopping is from Wayside Music, but every time I'm on their site I end up accidentally ordering way too many things.

tranchemusicFrith's only solo album I have is Clearing, cool ambient/soundscape type stuff. Speaking of that, ever listened to Death Ambient? Magnificent band he play with.
I haven't, actually. Seems like pretty interesting music (and dark ambient has never been a genre I've explored), I'll give them a listen probably tomorrow.
