CEVO Community Meeting

Hello everyone. So here is the run down for the CEVO/community meeting. I went through and gathered questions that you had and emailed them to CEVO. CEVO will come forth and will give answers to the follow questions. Please see google doc link

Your text to link here...

Now the other thing that will be presented is a “Draft Proposal” of a money pot prize to start off CEVO Season 4. There are some issues in regards to licensing that CEVO has with valve, which CEVO will also explain, that influences the prize pot. In addition, this is only a “guide” at this point as I have not 100% secured the funds for the first pay to play season but I am working on it. People know that I will never promise on something unless I can 100% deliver which is why I am making it VERY CLEAR that these numbers are only draft and not final. I also want constructive feedback from the community. In addition, keep in mind that this needs to be a 100% fully sponsored community league, therefore the community needs to be able to support it.

Here is the mumble information for you to join the community meeting November 26th 6:00PST/9:00EST. Address: dal.eoreality.net Port: 64767

Now just in case we get hit by a DDOS attack we have a backup plan to counter. So the meeting and information will still go ahead either way. The meeting will also be recorded so people who miss it will be able to hear what was said. I will also have admins in the mumble. We only have a short time and we want this to be constructive. When people join mumble you will go to the gallery channel where everyone will be muted. Once the welcoming and the questions are answered by CEVO then people who have specific questions can move into the microphone channel where they can ask questions they have to CEVO. I ask this is done in a respectful manner. Anyone who presents themselves in an “out of line fashion” will be asked to leave the channel. If they refuse they will be kicked and banned by mumble admins.

If you have any specific questions that are NOT in the question document above then please add them in posts below and I will add them to the list of questions. Please make them short and to the point. Unlike my posts…lol. Cheers!

The only question I can think of is: Overall, what is your three to five year business plan? How far are you planning to go to provide a quality product for not only your current and potential competitors but also for the future of eSports competition?

how will caught cheaters be handled? in ESEA, if someone cheats and doesn't get caught by the client they are not banned from the league. If someone cheats in tf2, but isn't detected by the client and not during a match, there are not any consequences for them in terms of the league play.

edit: im tired and not actually at my computer sorry

How will you handle a prize pot, will you initiate a league fee or will we have like a price per team or a humblebundle-esque system where you pay a minimum but can pay more? Or nothing like this at all.

what kind of weapon bans and class restrictions will be implemented? can we expect bans decided by a vote, either by admins or the equivalent of ESEA's invite captain method or some other process

What is going to be your stance / approach to the ALMIGHTY LAN EXPERIENCE?

What will cevo do to prevent any favoritism or bias towards an item ban, league rules or any other decision making process involving admins/workers/volunteers from this community?

Will there be anything to prevent or discourage teams from dying?

How firm will you be on for things like paying for league fees?

Will there be any events free to the public sponsored by you?

If required in the future would you provide additional resources like deathmatch servers?

It is my understanding that CEVO currently only makes a profit off the B2B aspect of their business. Can they explain that a little more? Can they name some events that they have managed that have been successful?

are people still working on the cevo anticheat client

if not, are there plans for a team to get back on working on it if enough people switch to their services?

i'll be in class during the time you guys are meeting, but i'm looking forward to hearing the recordings

As a Team Captain, I'm far more concerned about how the Website Interacts with scheduling, does it have servers to select and times to choose, can see the Live Box Scores of other games, Live STV links. This is what makes ESEA seem professional and not like one giant pick up game league. Forgive my ignorance, but does CEVO have all these features embedded in their website? If not, do they plan to for next season?

smite is hosting a 100k tournament for their games release, can we expect at least half of that for this first opening season of TF2 CEVO?

I also feel like the CEVO site has next to no fluidity to it, it's a headache to navigate. If they want our presence they're going to have to make some changes to ease the process of finding a team/scheduling a match/registering a team etcetcetc..

Thomas123Will the client work on Mac? (I fucking hate playing on mac but its all I got)

This. I have a mac but play on a partition. Neither is amazing, but playing on the mac itself would run quite a bit better.

Also, how do we know you are not just blowing smoke? Do you have any proof you were looking into a LAN before we all had a heart attack and decided we did not like ESEA? How do we know CEVO is any difforent from ESEA, just looking to profit from the fact that we finally decided to leave ESEA? Is there any way CEVO can confirm to us that there will, actually, be a LAN within 3 seasons? A prize pot somewhat similar in scope and amount to ESEA?

Those are the importent questions to consider before gambling on any new league (not just CEVO).

You need to realize that you need to decide right now about ESEA based on ESEA and nothing else. We guarantee nothing as we cant (neither can any other potential league). CEVO's TF2 division is only as successful as the TF2 community gives support. This is a meeting to answer some and hopefully all of the community questions. Again, this is not a ESEA replacement. CEVO is a "community" option for you to make the league the community wants to see. This take time and cooperation people. See you at the meeting.

I don't see why not. I could certainly stream it for instance.

I'll be in Mumble early to claim my slot just in case, but I'll stream it.

I'm not really involved in TF2 anymore but I can stream if no one else is available (though I'm guessing there's going to be plenty of people there with streaming capability).

Apparently my stream no longer shows up on the side bar since twitch removed the passcode feature. It apparently is screwing up team streaming if you had your stream pass coded..and my stream was passcoded.

gg twitch.

Will still stream it. http://teamfortress.tv/streams/view/Star%20Knight

Will Main be transferred over, or will the number of divisions revert back to three with Open, Intermediate, and Invite being the ladder?

League fees: By team, or by player? Is there a way to lock rosters during playoffs? Are match comms even a thing available on the site? I literally have no clue.

Will the main page design change to a more aesthetically pleasing/simple layout like ESEA's design presently?

ummmm, are you sure you are doing everything right? because if you are, your windows side should run much, much better than mac. personal experience, as i play on partitioned laptop.

Thanks, I think this will reach out to more people who might not be able to get in or want to join the mumble in general. Also those who may not be in the group or read the forums as often as some. Maybe try and get in touch with someone who can get your stream back on the side bar might be beneficial as a lot of people will tune in if they see it up there

A lot of these questions are kinda relevant to what was already in the list. If you still don't feel that you got the answers after the meeting then please let me know.

Thanks
