My good friend athermal has been experiencing some... difficulties lately with packet loss. It might stop him from playing this season. If anyone knows what the problem is and how to fix it please tell.

Wow, that looks harsh. I've been having a similar problem but I've mostly chocked it up to the updates and me being on wireless.

What does his netgraph look like?

If anyone can find out what the dealio is that'd be great.

Here are my netgraphs + info.

I have 20d/2u, but I am on wireless, the router is upstairs and a room away if that makes sense. Currently working to wire up my room for a direct connection as I had way less problems when I was plugged directly in.

The pattern? Coincidence? I think not.

My netgraph has incredibly high choke and loss when I freeze (I'm the person in the stream). My internet speeds are fine (anywhere from 500 down/500 up to 100 down/300 up) and I'm on an ethernet cable directly plugged into my wall. I think the problem probably lies in that I'm using university internet, and I just get incredible packet loss during peak usage hours.

What I find strange however, is that I can watch streams in 720p+ and play Borderlands 2 co-op without any problems. The packet loss in TF2 however, continues even if I'm in an empty server just jumping around. My internet does get noticeably slower at night, but it's still pretty fast. I'm going to ask the IT people tomorrow and see what's up. But if anyone else has any ideas, any help would be appreciated.

Increase your interp and it will help smooth out packet loss and ping variance.

Also make sure you have a rate set >=30000

Basically, increase your interp by increments of .0152 until the orange spikes in the lowest graph smooth out.
