FPS Problems After TF2 Update

Hey everyone,

I'm posting this thread as I did not find anything that could help me in previous threads that relate to this problem but if I've missed something a link would be helpful.

Ever since the recent TF2 update my frames have significantly dropped from my average of around 200-300 to 60 or less which pretty much makes this game unplayable for me.

I use chris' dx9highframes config and my launch options are -dxlevel 95 -full -w 1920 -h 1080 -console -novid -useforcedmparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd -nod3d9ex.

I've tried to verify my cache, re-install the game and deleted my config but none of those worked so if anyone can help me out i'd really appreciate it as the seasons for ESEA and UGC are starting soon.

you could always lower your dxlevel and resolution

You could also use chris's maxframes if you're okay with losing some quality to increase performance.

Also check video settings to make sure nothing changed to a higher quality, i.e. high-quality models or shaders instead of low-quality ones

I'm going to assume that he went down to maxframes.

But then again, we will never know for sure.

I fixed it by turning on multi core rendering as I had it disabled before because my TF2 kept crashing when I used the 'Go to' feature in demos.

Sorry for not saying how I fixed it.

EDIT: I never used the maxframes fps config as my screen was flickering all the time
