alot of us have been trying to grasp this concept too

This is what I think.
It started out as a joke, and the joke grew and grew, so large that some people thought it wasn't a joke, and thought it was serious, wanting to fit in, they jumped on the bandwagon, the whole "it being a joke" still happens today but not nearly as much, because the whole reason behind liking the show changed
just my thought, not really sure myself lol.

Its not like adults liking things inappropriate to their age or perhaps gender is a new thing, its just much more obvious and can actually grow into something thanks to the internet.
I think its fine for them to do what they want with their spare time though.

these things are not to be understood, we just kinda let them sit there and do there own thing, occasionally one of them will get bored of fapping to cartoon ponies and rejoin society...

They're alright as long as they don't try to force their shit on you, and they try to take care of personal hygiene.

The show doesn't teach jack shit, maybe it teaches 4 year olds that you shouldn't bully your friends or something, but their lessons are just: "Use common sense".
