FzeroI don't think demo is OP, at all. At least not anymore. If you want to see an overpowered demo then look at the first 6 months of the game's launch. Allowing only one demo and the various nerfs over the years, the class is fine.
This is probably some variant of the appeal to tradition fallacy, idk I'm no logician.

Yes. Only problem in recent times was that stupid damage ramp up thing, but luckily Valve got their shit together
Would like to point out that seven years ago demoman had tons of problems. I don't know when exactly they nerfed it to the state it is today, but it certainly had some 'problems'. Even now it's slightly op, I think many people agree that it could cope with a slight nerf, yeah? Demo is easily my favourite class btw lol

Kanecosry to necro this thread but to add to the hype train, while recording some demos I found an interesting thing being spammed in console

This is most likely valve fucking up but maybe just maybe it means that every game in tournament mode (and without cheats and other stupid cvars on etc) will count towards your 'competitive_skillrating'.

I had a look for asian servers a few weeks ago and literally two were under 200 ping, at about 160-180. Unlikely that an aus v asia match would work unless everyone goes scout/sniper and that would just frustrate everybody anyway

Yes! I've been talking to Chris, our competition's admin, and he has a bunch of questionably plausible ideas, but do not worry, there will be more in the future, for all sorts of formats.
For variety you could try a cup where ubering is banned
as in medics are still allowed but they aren't allowed to pop any ubers
