#6 Add a "New to comp?" thing next to tftv banner in Site Discussion

Absolutely, it was kind of a "first attempt"; it will be revised later.

EDIT: Also, thanks for the encouragement. :) MAKES ME WANT TO WRITE HARDER.

Sorry, yeah, this has already been suggested and is the reason why I'm involved with teamfortress.tv in the first place.

Writing a guide is pretty extensive work, and I'm going through drafting mode at the moment; that's actually what that Guide button at the top is supposed to exactly do (except it doesn't do anything at the moment).

I'm hurrying through the guide ASAP. :)

Bumping, as we have a scout spot opened. We'll be trying out a couple people this week (we talked to you already, most likely), and probably more extensively in next week or week and a half.

LOOKING FORWARD TO TRYING YOU OUT!

EDIT: To clarify, the original topic post is updated. :)

MarmitearkonHonestly, why are we doing this? Did we gain any more exposure in the esports scene after doing this last year?
Does it matter? have fun with what we have

And then everyone else will see how much fun we're having.

EDIT: RE: exposure: YES.

Full time eSPORTS ATHLETE + game designer + musician on tour would be ridiculously fun.

Or Valve or somewhere equally as eccentric. I got close, once.

HugsThis is great news. Going through indiegogo, have you thought about what the reward tiers will be, if any? That's always a great way to wrangle a few more dollars from people. Better to keep rewards digital if you do decide to go with it so you don't have to deal with shipping and delivering physical goods.

Yes. We're fleshing them out. They will be absolutely extensive and, of course, appeal to everyone.

We're pretty excited to see the reception on this; we think it's the right move for the TF2 community, for a lot of reasons.

ndustWhy don't we just buy a spot at some big tournament here in America? Is that even possible? lol
I don't think a repeat of i46 would be very exciting, especially due to the fact that only one team is going.

This has been raised over and over; it'd be far more expensive and complicated (i.e. huge chance to fail) to try and get TF2 instated at a major event that doesn't have it yet. Not to mention everyone in eSports is holding on to their wallets because it's in "careful investment" mode right now.

Please. No more.

#15 MLG in TF2 General Discussion
Not_MatlockNot enough people care about comp TF2 to go to one of those events and be a spectator.

They would rather watch people with assault rifles run around and throw knives at each other.

Fact of the matter is, eSports is still incredibly new; this means sponsors will go to only 2, maybe 3 games at most. That's LoL and SC2. FPSes just aren't popular right now.

Again, it all boils down to stream viewership, literally.

#7 MLG in TF2 General Discussion

As much as all of us on these forums would love to see this, there are a ways to go before it can happen; namely, having a massive spectator base.

Why? Because running an event at something like MLG is pretty expensive; it requires an investment. Somewhere, something has to guarantee that a sponsor (most likely, a sponsor for something like this is absolutely required; IPL, and MLG, I'm guessing, is hesitant to pick up a game if the developer is not involved) will make a return on the money.

So, really, what we should be focusing on is growing the playerbase; sponsors, and of course, tournaments, will come naturally after that.

New development, we have our scouts set, so I apologize for the potential scouts that applied. :/ I'll do what I can to get you guys teams, or have you make teams with each other.

EDIT: Not anymore! As of post/edit.

SBARROHOTTOPICmanaSoftware/tech engineer in the arts (most of my job is music production software but occasionally it's other stuff too).
What software?

The primary thing is Tabletop for iPad (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tabletop/id436080882?mt=8). We also were responsible for iMPC and iMini (with AKAI and Arturia, respectively). Apparently we've done some work with a lot of other tech places too (hi John), but that was long before my time (and John's, I think).
