#5 Surf Plugin/Config? in Q/A Help
Mr_OwlOnly tangentially related, but are the new surf configs/timer publicly available? I still don't have the Internet at home and may not for another month or so, and I like surfing offline, but the old surfit plugin doesn't have a timer for a lot of the newer maps.

Not really, but you might have better luck asking over in the forums at http://resurfed.site.nfoservers.com/forums/ and maybe tord/malt will like you.

As for surf configs, the only thing that needs to be set is sm_cvar sv_airaccelerate 150, which if that isn't obvious enough can only be set with sourcemod. So unless you want to set up sm on a local server, the only way that you can change that value is to join a server that has set that value already. I.e. join a surf server then you can locally start up a surf map that you really want to be playing. Also, some surf maps require bhop, which you can't do locally no matter what without installing separate plugins.

#1 Stanpls (ESEA IM) LF backup pocket+ in Recruitment (looking for players)

Team Page

Medic: Rchl
Demo: Xan
Pocket: Smile
Roamer: GBB
Scouts: Stochast1c, Silkthread

As a result of school, we are going to be down a pocket on Tuesdays and Thursdays so we are looking for a permanent backup for those days so we can continue to scrim.

In addition, we could also use a scout/medic backup who would get semi-consistent play (around once a week for a scrim or two).

We start scrimming around 9:30eastern and shoot for around 3 scrims, ending no later than midnight.

Add me on steam to discuss, thanks.

AnAkkkDoes it stop crashing if you set tftrue_logs_accuracy to 0?

No, still crashes, same error.

#133 TFTrue in Projects

I'm having an odd problem with my linux server crashing whenever health changes, damage happens, or shots fired occur. Things like immediately dying (e.g. switch teams) do not cause the server to crash, nor do capping points or time ending.

From the terminal running the server:

L 06/23/2014 - 18:59:00: "Stochast1c<3><STEAM_0:0:17471856><Red>" triggered "shot_fired" (weapon "scattergun")
./srcds_run: line 324: 3064 Segmentation fault (core dumped) $HL_CMD
cat: hlds.3018.pid: No such file or directory
email debug.log to linux@valvesoftware.com

This line doesn't appear in the log file however. I suppose the problem might be on my end with file permissions since the person who initially installed the server files is not using the same account as me. To allow us both to use the server I added us to the same group and added everything in the server directory to the shared group. However, I'm not entirely sure this is actually relevant to the problem since other log information is successfully written.

Other info, that may be important:
-TFTrue (v4.54) is the only plugin on the server
-server cvars related to tftrue and logging

log 1
mp_logdetail "3"

tftrue_logs_includebuffs 1
tftrue_logs_accuracy 1
tftrue_logs_apikey ""
tftrue_whitelist_id 409
tftrue_tv_demos_path "stv"
tftrue_tournament_config 0
tftrue_no_hats 0
tftrue_no_misc 0
tftrue_no_action 0
tftrue_logs_roundend 0
tftrue_unpause_delay 5

-other plugins (sourcemod, sizzlingstats, etc.) work perfectly fine

#1 [Stream] Stochast1c in Requests

- Stream consistently over the course of the week
As long as my team is scrimming I will be streaming. I'll be streaming starting around 9pm until 12am eastern Sunday-Thursday.

I have been streaming since the 19th but twitch eats vods now.

- Provide a link to your stream
http://www.twitch.tv/stochast1c

- Provide a brief description of your stream
I am aiming to be one of the few IM(+) scouts that has a decent quality stream who interacts with viewers. I am also one of the few TF2 surfers that can stream regularly.

- State your country of residence
USA

- Give a brief background of your league/division/team history

~3 years of comeptitive in general
3 seasons of ESEA (1 in IM, 2 in Open)
1 season of CEVO (Main)
Many seasons of UGC 6s (plat)

#3 TFTrue vs. Sourcemod w/ similar plugins in Q/A Help

TFTrue doesn't do anything that sourcemod does, unless you specifically run competitive sm plugins. TFTrue adds a lot of really nice server management options as well a fully integrated logs.tf uploader (which is has much more detailed stats than ss, including accuracy, heals with buffs, and other detailed stats).

TFTrue also includes the most important option of all time, bhop.

#48 ESEA open in TF2 General Discussion

While I personally dislike ESEA as a company, CEVO needs another season before we put all our eggs in their basket. As an open player from last season I have two suggestions that are more than just throwing money at the screen, because honestly the people playing in open aren't playing for money and an extra $60 isn't going to convince most people to play in ESEA and/over CEVO (or UGC) especially with ESEA's track record.

Suggestion #1: A dedicated writer for open who releases timely articles (interviews, team overviews) and power rankings. While last season (and seasons before that) did a pretty good job with power rankings (writers look like they at least looked at the marquee matches) there really weren't team write-ups outside of the sandbagging invite teams. Also, unless something has changed, ESEA isn't funding writers outside of Invite, so we are going to have to fund a writer if we want one. Trust me, seeing other people (especially if they are better than you) talk about your team or yourself is one of the best feelings as a lower division player and is something that UGC (and CEVO?) doesn't offer.

Suggestion #2: Weekly open casts of the match of the week (vary the teams). Simple in concept, but it seems that tf.tv has enough trouble finding people for invite casts. Personally, I'd argue that open casts do more for growing tf2 than invite casts, but that is another story. In my mind this is more or less a promise to teams that if they work hard then they have a good chance of 1000 people seeing their names in lights.

#19 Need some advice on headphones in Hardware
MedusaStochast1cThe AD700s are great gaming headphones, and have superior soundstage and imaging for <$200 headphones. They also have a reduced low end (can be somewhat remedied by an amp) and generally don't play well with a majority of music.
They're completely fine for listening to music. They only really suck if you compare them to headphones in their pricerange that are build for music and not for an all around use/for gaming.

Well a prudent buyer should be comparing the headphones in the price range against each other, otherwise they are wasting their money. Of course the AD700 are better than the vast majority of headsets and other crappy $30 headphones in every single category. However, if you are going to be buying headphones strictly for listening to music and you really don't care about how well the instruments are positioned in your head, then the AD700 are not the best headphone that you could be buying for your money. OP explicitly mentioned that they really like bass, and the AD700s sacrifice some of the bass response for a better soundstage.

#5 Need some advice on headphones in Hardware

HM5's are amazing headphones for their price, and in my opinion are the best closed headphones in their price range. They can also be found for under $100 as the Jaycar Pro Monitor Headphones, so they are by far the cheapest headphones on the list.

The AD700s are great gaming headphones, and have superior soundstage and imaging for <$200 headphones. They also have a reduced low end (can be somewhat remedied by an amp) and generally don't play well with a majority of music.

The DT880s are awesome generalist headphones and they might be my pick for best overall headphone under $300. They also happen to be double the price of the other headphones that you are considering, so you have to take that into consideration.

Other headphones you might want to consider are Senn HD 5X8, AKG 702, AD900, and DT770.

#3 Zowie FK Problem in Hardware

The sensor setup for Zowie mice does not play well with many surfaces. Generally, only black cloth mats play well (although the puretrak talent works for mine). If you think your mousepad is fine, call Zowie about your problem, they are a pretty decent company.

#1 ESEA S15 Playoffs Maps in TF2 General Discussion

http://play.esea.net/index.php?s=esports&d=content&id=13469

http://i.imgur.com/nUrlgeL.png

Process is only seen in open lower finals, gully is played twice in open, everybody plays metalworks and is the main lower finals map.

I do like having viaduct as the grand finals if needed match.

Anybody like the map choices?

#5 SteamOS released in Off Topic

#4 since SteamOS is currently being shipped as a system restore image, you have to install SteamOS first, partition (using gparted or something similiar), then install whatever other OS's you want on the new partition.

Why Valve decided to ship SteamOS this way is a mystery, imo.

#3 SteamOS released in Off Topic

Note that SteamOS is not a simple .iso, installing it will reformat your drives. Unless you want to lose your data, use an empty drive and disconnect all other drives you have attached to the computer until after installing.

#665 ESEA S15 NA Open Happenings/Predictions in TF2 General Discussion

This is my best guess to the final seedings. A couple of teams have some work left to do, so if you are one of the few teams that can alter their destiny consider now if you want to throw for seedings.

As an aside, the esea tie-breaker rules of Overall, Head-to-Head, RF seems backwards to me and leads to ambiguous seedings. For example all the 12 win teams have played each other, but LH lost to AG, but AG lost to MD, but MD lost to all the other 12 game winners. It really sound be Overall, RF, RA, HtH.
