#20 Hey ESEA. The Viewers want a Rematch! in TF2 General Discussion

We need our resident tf2 nerds to create a sticky thread on how to protect yourself from DDos attacks.

Also, anybody who suspects they've been ddosed needs to call their ISP and see what can be done legally from there.

#8 It Happened in TF2 General Discussion

the heal beam is fixed, technically, you have to remove the "marker over player" option in adv. options and then you'll have a heal beam, at least that's the rumor I hear.

#6 All Class LFT in Recruitment (looking for team)

He has room to improve, but from the handful of experiences I've had with him (ringing as combat classes trying not to embarrass myself) he's a nice guy who is trying to be as good as he can be, he also stays calm in tight situations - which are very important things for medics.

I'd say upper end of open, possibly lower end of IM - with the right team and a month or two, he'd be fully IM ready (note the length of this off season :O) )

Also he's pretty decent at soldier from what I've seen - so if you're in that market he'd be a pretty solid pickup, always good to have a soldier that understands what your medic is going to want to do.

A lesser man would have just let themselves die sometime after about 25 seconds.

#5 Overheating Wireless Network Card in Hardware

With lap tops it's generally a good rule of thumb to assume heat first - since most of them are absolutely terrible at heat dissipation. Try and give it a really thorough cleaning since it seems like things were fine in the past before you waste money buying new stuff - if you can even take the thing apart without destroying it (some lap tops are purposefully designed to be difficult to dismantle so as to force you into using your warranty or buying a new one etc).

#8 New build in Hardware

I like the case - I have a similar one, out of curiosity, does anybody know how to keep those giant side fans from becoming massive dust vacuums - the side screen thing just isn't that effective unless you clean it out every week or two :(

Also really like that mother board, it's treated me very well and has oodles of slots for crap I'll never use, I've got the older version (I think) so only 16 gigs max :( but oh well, it'll likely be forever until I actually need 32 gigs. Just working with the BIOS too is a lot more straight forward + the internet switch deal is really nice if you have an unstable connection lol.

#2 General 6v6 guides? in TF2 General Discussion

I've made some of these - they take a while to produce but it's happening very slowly - I try to organize them as best as I can. I'm gearing them towards UGC-6v6 so that'll determine which order the map guides come out in, and also being a US player, I tend to include things that aren't allowed in europe (certain weapons) although I sometimes bring up what can be done with a more vanilla-esq rule set.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdokAo7CgX8 is an example for badlands mid. I've completed Badlands and GPIT so far. Process video is being made atm. I like to think that I cover basically everything a new or novice player would need to know to be functional in a competitive environment on a map by map basis.

I try to provide 2 basic strats for every point and mid as well.

I know seanbud has made similar videos on his stream, and pyyyour (using I think unff's stream) did a few map walk overs in the past too.

If you're shooting for EU etf2l style map pools, Badlands is done, process will be done by the end of the week, then barring acts of God, granary the next week, then gully, then snake (which I've already made a last guide for).

#29 low-mid Medic in Mentoring

You may have the ability to say what you want, but you have to accept that some people may think you're a fool as a result. He was trying to be helpful by telling you not to respond to people who were being overly critical of you - or at least not to do so in the way that you have, and you immediately responded with nonsense. He was only trying to be helpful.

If you have any demos feel free to submit them to my thread and I'll get to reviewing them in the next 2-3 weeks (I have other projects that need my attention atm).

#17 The weakness of the roaming soldier. in TF2 General Discussion

The roamer gets a bad rap - I'll make life easy by not reiterating things that have already been said.

One thing that fascinates me about the position of roamer in general, is how stylistically different any given one roamer can be from another - while both could still be effective.

Roaming is sometimes a thankless job, and sometimes you get to be the hero who gets that crucial pop, gets a bagillion assists as the scouts kill things, or hides in forward as sniper and drops a medic on LAN.

Teams can do virtually anything they want to do with a roamer and have it be effective as long as the rest of the team knows how to play with the given situation (a more heal-heavy roamer, a shotgun roamer, a suicide double jumping roamer, a hidey-spot roamer, a constantly off classing roamer, jump around in circles health pack lord, etc etc).

They also can hold down doors pretty well, which, while it won't do a damn thing for their stats, can allow teams to stack scouts onto their combo, which can have great results.

Most of the times when roamer comes off as being pitiful, is when he/she has managed to get themselves into some situation that they shouldn't be in or when teams attempt to utilize them incorrectly by throwing them into situations where they can't do anything beyond shoot two rockets and die and his/her teammates can't/won't follow up.
