AllealMagikarpJust to get blasted by 1 hit again, okay. It should at least take 2 hits or more to earn a kill really, instant respawn or not. If you truly believe in it, then you can go make your own DM server and have DH and sniper, since so many people want it right?
If you get hit by every rocket the DH fires then it sounds like you suck at DM. But of course you would, since you never DM against a DH. See the problem?

You know TF2 is the only place I've seen that actively ignores top players opinions. Everyone will beg them for their sens/hud/cfg but won't listen to a word they have to say about DM.

I've played DM before with DH before it started getting prohibited, the server usually cleared faster than usual when it happened and people left. Some even raged at it. Also I'm not saying necessarily every rocket, but a good amount of them, despite it's just +more dmg and +more speed and it grants you a kill. Also the "splash" thing you DH supporters try to use, is BS, considering, soldier DMing is also trying to land more directs with the default RL.

Also I don't think it's that they ignore top player opinions, it's that they don't want to say anything about stupid shit like this. I don't see many top players saying much about Sniper in DM, or Soldier with DH, because they're already good and getting good with THE STOCKS.

AllealMagikarpI don't know what to say about the first one, but just because the other is "fun" doesn't justify it, and how it 1hit kills scouts can get pretty annoying time to time IMO.

AllealFogTell me what's cool about Sniper and Direct Hit and all the other stuff I ban?
One is a legitimate DM class and the other is fun and neither of them stop other people from DMing.

We've had this discussion before.

I don't know what to say about the first one, but just because the other is "fun" doesn't justify it, the DM server was meant to truly practice with stock mainly anyway, and how it 1hit kills scouts can get pretty annoying time to time IMO.

#25 quick poll regarding 'active servers' module/tab in Off Topic

I always refer to it when I need to find a DM/MGE server.
Tags would be very helpful. But also the same for nationalizing, I met some EU people who want to get better and wanted to try MGE and DM, but they can't easily find the EU servers.

#14 still making bball league in TF2 General Discussion

I'm helping out the dude with a mumble currently, we're hoping to have more helpers/organizers with this that are committed.
Also to avoid making another thread, I'm wondering if during this league, we could have different bball maps. I don't know if any other exit, but imagine keeping nearly the same design as ballin, but different kind of terrain. Like imagine badlands middle being the center with the ball/flag, and each side has the spires where the hoop is, more creative jumps/styles could be possible, like walljumping up to spire possibly(note that cliff may/not be there or customized). Something that is not too weird or shitty like bad 6s maps, but easily accessed, like quake ctf maps, but for TF2. I was also thinking the same for competitive ctf maps where we make it quake-like but just edit it to where the terrain has good enough gameplay to where scouts can doublejump to certain spots, rocketjumping pogo spots, and etc.

Go to prom with her capn! IF the prom is shitty as you say, then make it fun, hang with friends, get with dat girl. If it helps watch this frag video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNVScskmwDY
That way, have it go on in your head multiple times, feel the beat of that going on in your head as you're dancing with her, then come back home to some nice TF2 :).

#67 The Future Of Competitive Team Fortress 2 in TF2 General Discussion
RadmanMagikarpMany other people would say it's just some hat game or some simulator, but when you really look at the community, even the people who play competitive TF2 can be immature, or spam binds, and not really care much about the game or acting professional as mentioned earlier. It's when the community is ready to grow and our pros are ready to start acting more professional as they start streaming more, we can start to develop. This may be crazy, but maybe "less use of our binds" and more "use of our potential" in how we can play this game, be mature, and represent TF2. Then maybe Valve can look at us and see how we've grown to start supporting TF2 more than just the "news" section.Because the dota community (and the pros) are the epitome of maturity and class.

Some games have advantages also that got them into the eSports scene though, at least that's what I see. Because Dota and LoL communities aren't the "best" or are mature alot, it's because it's a MOBA that makes it popular also, and developers will take advantage of that because they're popular and the community loves/wants it alot. TF2 isn't that, which we can all accept and have accepted, we'll just work harder to do what we can for our goals though. Also, the pros play MANY hours a day constantly probably, not saying our invite players never played alot of TF2, but they were just as dedicated and some even stream alot also.

Whoopee_Cushionlook at us, increasing the popularity of comp tf2 by whining about how DOTA is better supported by valve. /s

Nick brought up a good point on how Valve supports Dota though. It really does show us the impact that the developer has to have. It may seem obvious to many, but sometimes we forget it and ignore it ourselves. Although sometimes Valve makes "announcements" on their news page which barely anyone goes too, it's not enough. This shows how much value Valve puts into competitive TF2 a bit. But how about thinking, why they don't support us or think it can stand a chance?

TBH, they really should at least post it on the TF2 Facebook page, many people use that nowadays...

EDIT: Divided post for better reading instead of textwall.

NickAnd $10,000+ prize tournaments, some of them lans
And a Million dollar valve sponsered international tournament
And constant Balance/Competetive updates
And updates to improve Spectating
And new content that isn't just shitty hats
And 10,000+ people watching pro matches
And ect...

If only Valve never got their hands on Dota... but then they'd probably put it to CSGO. We really need support from the developer to make competitive TF2 more popular. I believe that's how all the other developers were able to get their game into eSports, like Blizzard and StarCraft.

#21 Competitive TF2 Guide to Everything in TF2 General Discussion

I kind of agree with LazyPanda on this. Just one person working on it isn't much. I don't know how the google stuff works and accounts, but maybe we could make a "group" google account that certain reliable people have access to can edit and add certain important parts altogether.

#23 Forum chatbox? in Site Discussion
LangeOblivionageThere could always just be a few moderators moderating the chat so there is no advertising/arguing.

I support this.

Who wants to sit around and moderate a chatbox all day? I'm not sure this is the best use of our limited resources.

I have alot of time on my hands. Many others may have time too. I think a chatbox(not like NATF2's) would be good as it'll show not only are we active, but also it can help other newbies that enter the forums ask where to go, and they can be directed.

capnfapnSpiritr3ap3rHow about a "hub" so to speak, similar to dota where watching games is extremely easy to do, and possibly limiting it to ESEA IM, Invite, and Platinum HL. This, in my mind would help to get more people watching, and hopefully more people playing.Another thing i think we should do is have noobs only DM servers. practicing DM is pretty hard for newer players because everybody in MGE is going to rape them and their souls and everybody in soap DM is better than 99% of the people that they've ever played. You probably get better faster if you're playing people 100x better than you but its also ridiculously frustrating when your kdr is 8:50. It will probably be tricky to regulate, but a place where baddies can fight other baddies in order to get less bad wouldn't be a bad thing. wow thats a lot of bads.

I think we should have 2 servers maybe, DEDICATED to only Newbies, for DM and MGE if that's so then. But...there are some trolls in the TF2 community that would just go in and crush them. The only way to get past this is if they had a friend at their level they wanted to mge with.

TerraI agree that the biggest issue with the growth of competitive TF2 right now is that people don't know it exists.

I believe this is one of the biggest issues, but also I wonder, if people are interested in competitive TF2. Even some pubbers know of it, but just wish not to play. Getting known is one thing, then we have to rely on getting more people interested in it. If there was a more simple guide like Terra said on the front page, it might be able to keep someone looking around there and try it out.
