#5 Refresh: cp_steel in Map Discussion
DubThinkIt bothers me how this is branded as "fix[ing] the issues with map geometry as well as minor aesthetic and performance improvements" when it's much more than that. Heaven knows steel is a good candidate for fixes and/or a pro version, but branding this as a set of completely uncontroversial fixes rather than a full on pro version of the map feels inaccurate and possibly disingenuous.

(I think the same can be said about all of the Refresh: maps to a lesser extent. I generally support efforts to improve the map pool, but feel that Refresh: misrepresents itself as focusing on purely clipping/bug/perf fixes while doing much more than that)

This map was originally supposed to be a full on pro version with major changes to the map, however since harris0n agreed to join the Refresh team we got to an understanding that we want to make sure we change as little as possible in terms of things that can be considered major gameplay changes.

The "major" changes that harris0n listed are for the community to decide whether or not he went too far, we try and change as little as possible about the maps that the community played for years as inherently they are good however they need an updating.

Now again, if players feel we went too far and changed things that feel extreme we do listen to feedback and revert changes, like we did to cp_process_f5 after you've raised concerns about in the thread, and similarly we are working with league admins to revert and fix changes that we made to cp_gullywash_f2a.

KevinIsPwnDubThink
I am of the same opinion. I really like the effort going in to making the map pool better, but "completely remade the map from scratch" on gully was not a "small change". Same mentality with adding bridges and changing geometry here.

If you wanna make a pro version, just call it that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'll let Collaide respond to the gullywash comment himself but from my perspective seeing this breaks my heart as he spent so many hours making sure the map is perfectly aligned to the grid and isn't a mess from 2009, the fact he placed it in the "Minor changes" section, he really meant that as a joke because 99% of the players will never notice the difference.

The major changes are all listed, and if you feel like we went too far, please, tell us in the threads.

I'll try running through the biggest changes harris0n made in terms of gameplay to this version of cp_steel_f1, and as I can't know for sure if they all will be good enough to keep for the next version I won't claim they are all 100% positive, but we hope it will create more good than bad, I'll let harris0n comment on those himself as well.

A point:
-Bridge from hill to red spawn and a fenced wall - https://i.imgur.com/nDNYxK0.jpg

B point:
-Widened the stairs leading to the highground - https://i.imgur.com/rncY8EH.jpg
-Added a new doorway into B spawn dropdown via outside - https://i.imgur.com/Yt6Oluf.jpg
-Extended B's sentry porch - https://i.imgur.com/sNYuyuQ.jpg

C point:
-Extended the defence's bridge making the jump from the control point and back possible - https://i.imgur.com/MSXI3i1.jpg

D point:
-Added windows to the D+E Connector - https://i.imgur.com/GIukqI5.jpg

E point:
-Converted sniper perch windows both into wider windows, removing the pole in the middle - https://i.imgur.com/EXBRJrG.jpg

These are the biggest changes in cp_steel_f1, I agree that some of these changes might be too big to be considered a simple 'Refresh' but this is where you come in and we appreciate the feedback, we will work to revert changes that went too far.

#7 RGL announces 6v6 Winter Cup with Qixalite in News
irebearodactylwhy only those 4 maps tho...we did look at process_f5 however we elected to not for the time being

could you elaborate on this?
process_f7 was released about a week ago, with additional fixes and the refresh team reverted and fixed things the RGL admin has expressed concerns about in the map thread.

#35 AMA with enigma in Events

How many times have you spoken to Valve about our scene?
And was there a time where you thought they might actually support our game like they do to CS and Dota?
How disappointed were you after the publicized visit went so well but afterwards the support stopped?

#95 ETF2L Ban Policy in TF2 General Discussion
when confronted, nyar showed absolutely zero remorse (as usual but that's besides the point), and the """apology""" posted in this thread does not feel genuine, or in character, even one bit, so I personally agree with the ban's length, but might be biased

I want everyone to pay close attention to this quote.
even when showing remorse or trying to apologize for what was said, there are still people who don't think it's enough, what else do you expect a person who said something wrong to do?

but rest assured that before nyar was banned an etf2l admin asked me for an invite to the discord this happened in to ensure no screenshot manipulation happened.
fwiw I didn't even have to report her, I posted the screenshot on her recruitment post, admins took interest on their own

This is what worries me, ETF2L admins actively chasing people that they find saying offensive things outside their league, where does it end? where is the line drawn in what we can say privately to each other without the fear that someone might take a screenshot and use it against the player whenever he pleases.

ETF2L are setting a dangerous precedent here, going beyond their bounds as a league & forums, actively banning people for anything they find offensive, and now that they handed a 5 year ban, whats stopping them from going around handing more bans like these to anyone they find offending them?

I really am curious to know ETF2L's explanation on this decision, on why VAC banned cheaters are only banned for 1 year while offensive language can get you banned for 5 and on where they draw the line when they are actively trying to punish people for speaking offensively?

I've contacted several ETF2L admins already and so far only 1 admin responded (Head AC admin - Amaterasu) in this thread and didn't even acknowledge the topic.
Can it really be this way? a community run league not even bothering trying to explain their controversial decisions?

#1 ETF2L Ban Policy in TF2 General Discussion

http://etf2l.org/2020/02/22/saturday-evening-bans-and-staff-changes/

https://i.imgur.com/hZ94SJW.png

I don't know this person, I don't know what he said and I wouldn't agree with whatever he said but this is a beyond ridiculous decision I really can't comprehend. obviously "showing extreme disrespect" can be very offensive for the admins but handing out one of the longest bans ETF2L has ever given is not proportionate.

a caught VAC banned cheater gets banned for 1 year and then gets welcome back like nothing happened, this person says offensive things and gets banned for 5 years?

I hope ETF2L can clarify why they think banning someone for 5 years for writing mean words on their website deserves to be banned from competing for half a decade.

#13 TF2 Launch Error: "Setup file 'gameinfo.txt' in Q/A Help

I've tried a couple of methods with wiethoofd and prsn which fixed it temporarily, I've taken all my launch options out and put -autoconfig in my launch options after restarting my pc, after a few tries it worked (try launching as administrator if it doesn't work).

after a while it happened again, eventually, my pc died, my motherboard and graphics card were toast, had to replace them, after that it never happened again.

#19 cp_metalworks Official Feedback Thread Mark 2.0 in Map Discussion

Hey Scorpio, I'm posting this on behalf of not only Benroads, but for all the people who take time off their free time and spend it on running around and finding feedback for mappers like you so gameplay and the map itself can be improved.

If you're going to ignore feedback on your map, or just not care for someones opinions just because he's saying it in a certain way that displeases you, you're killing off people that want to help mappers and promote competitive tf2 map making, I really hate to see a hard working guy like myself or anyone being ignored of feedback just because I didn't say:

ScorpioUprisingPhrases like "I think..." or "you might consider..."

He wasn't being rude, none of us are rude intentionally, as a matter of fact we admire mappers that actually give a shit about improving their maps, you can go ahead and check my history with Phi, Chojje, Fubar, Fantasmos, Hyce and even yourself, of how much time I spent helping you guys with feedback, and that's nothing compared to Benroads.

Ignoring feedback has no excuse, especially when the feedback is not even about major gameplay changes but just some simple fixes.

#14 ETF2L S23 W6: Foreskings vs. Perilous Gaming in Matches

update on our situation again, due to work issues and army duties, tomorrow we will be missing not only wackey, but spary and zangetsu, unfortunately Perilous can't play on any other days next week therefore we are giving them the default win.
I apologize on behalf of my team and myself.
