#25 i suck at tf2 but i have no time to practice in Q/A Help
halfleftthis is my setup; if i put my mouse on my desk i would develop a hunch

buy a cheap office chair. If you don't want to spend that much money (I can't imagine the cheapest would be too expensive though, and it'll be useful outside of tf2 as well) buy an even cheaper deck chair or something. You will have a lot more fun playing hitscan with your mouse on a flat surface

#4 i suck at tf2 but i have no time to practice in Q/A Help

I'll leave technical advice about fps and stuttering to people who actually know what they're talking about

Play the game to have fun. If you don't have time to "practice", then play the game whenever you feel like it and try to enjoy yourself. Even pubs will help you improve basic technique like tracking.

I do think your setup is holding you back. Beyond your fps, playing with your mouse on an armrest is probably the single biggest thing that makes your aim inconsistent. Try to find a way to change your setup- it can still be whatever computer you have right now, but get a decent mouse, a decent mousepad, and put it on a flat surface. Do whatever you can to find a way. I'm guessing you play with a fairly low sensitivity because there's not a lot of room on an armrest, so experiment with lowering it.

Don't think that just because you didn't suddenly become much better at i58, your setup isn't affecting you. It will take time for improvement in your setup to take effect in your gameplay.

Obviously getting a 144hz monitor and 300 fps would help you a ton but if you don't want to invest in it that much, just do what you can to cheaply improve your setup and then play the game for fun whenever you feel like it

#20 whistling in Off Topic

When I was little I was jealous of all my friends being able to whistle, so I wanted to learn how. I tried imitating the sound of wind blowing against stuff and making notes, if you know what I'm talking about? Eventually I could actually whistle but I've never been too good at it

#1 viewed.res Viewer in Projects

Hi

I'm bored waiting to go back to university this weekend, so I made a quick little project.

As many of you surely know, TF2 keeps track of the number of times you load each map (stock and custom) in a file called viewed.res. This java application will automatically open that file and display the maps you've played, sorted by most times loaded. You can also break this down by the type of map (pl_, cp_, koth_, jump_, etc). It also displays the total number of maps and the total number of times loaded between them.

This is what it looks like: http://imgur.com/a/QRMJg

You can download the app here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r5c619cscxx8qug/MapsViewer.jar?dl=0

Just run the jar file, and if you're on windows, it should automatically find viewed.res. If for any reason it can't, or if you're a linux/mac user, it will prompt you to copy the viewed.res file into the working directory and rerun the application. You need java installed to run the application.

Here's the source code if you care: https://github.com/LucasBrandt/TF2-viewed.res-viewer

I'm curious to see your results! I hope you find it useful.

#87 What are your weird in game habits/behaviour? in TF2 General Discussion

I go through phases with which voiceline I constantly spam, right now it's deploy a teleporter. I have a really bad habit of using voicelines during 1v1s and I occasionally lose one because of it

#44 ESEA Season 23 map vote in TF2 General Discussion

I enjoy Reckoner. I think Metalworks is alright, there's nothing too special about it. Granary is at least a very different challenge to other maps so I kinda like it in that way

#85 Everyone thank the production team ITT in TF2 General Discussion

Long post incoming

Early last winter, one night, I was watching some of my usual Youtube channels at the time- Muselk, Sin, some other stuff, etc. I don't remember how I came across it, but I found myself watching some of eXtelevision's Top 10 Plays videos. I was amazed at some of the plays people made, and kept watching back through more and more of them. At some point, I clicked one of Youtube's suggested videos- it was an i55 match. I wanted to see what full games would be like. I was fucking BLOWN AWAY. I was amazed at the action and skill and hype of the event, I immediately fell in love. This was the most entertaining form of video games I'd ever seen, and it was in my favorite game.

I stayed up until 4 am.

The very next season, I was playing newbie mixes, joined a highlander team, and joined a 6s team. I started taking getting better seriously, I started watching streams, and TF2 went from a fun game to play in the evenings to a passion. This season I'm playing open with a team from the newbie mix team drive, and it's all thanks to the amazing production, players, and game that I saw that summer night. You caught my attention and I haven't looked away since.

Fast forward to this weekend, and I finally got to see, live, i-series TF2. I spent my whole weekend drinking in the whole experience, and it was spectacular. Thank you to the production team for providing me with one of the highlights of my summer- truly phenomenal work showcasing the best TF2 I've ever seen played live. I get so much enjoyment and satisfaction out of playing and watching this game, and it's all thanks to you guys on the production team for i55 and i58, plus all the greatly talented players, for drawing me in.

THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY AND THE WHOLE COMMUNITY I LOVE YOU ALL AND I LOVE THIS GAME <3

#11 Full Tilt denies FROYO, punches ticket to Insomnia58 grand finals in News

I just hope Full Tilt can manage to make this an entertaining grand final like Froyo would've. Worried that this will turn out like just about every other match between Full Tilt and Crowns.

GO FULL TILT!
