Do any of your parents not have any trust in you/ not give you any independence? I feel as if my parents are going to screw me over in the long run when I leave them because I've never gotten a chance to experience a lot of things myself

Your parents are probably just disappointed in you and themselves because they managed to raise a shitposter.

he just means that his parents have such a strong conviction to take care of him and protect him that when he becomes an independent adult he will be a manchild incapable of taking care of himself

This isn't a joke, I'm being genuine here

I mean my parents have always been on my ass about everything. For example let's say you parents always used to wake you up every morning, and then once college comes around, you always miss classes because you never learned how to wake up without your parents

When I'm in college and they won't be able to do the things that they're doing for me right now

eventually you learn shit through the glamorous process of trial by fire (or error depending on how you look at life)

sooner or later you realize that being lazy and letting yourself fall in bad situations isn't fun

start learning now.

When I'm in college and they won't be able to do the things that they're doing for me right now

so learn now.

That's what I mean, I haven't had the chance to learn it myself since I've never gotten to go through that process. And I can't learn now because my parents don't give me any freedom

just ask my dude

even asking how to make scrambled eggs in the morning is easy enough and doesn't take that much time

Tell them this and if they don't listen then you have to try and figure stuff out yourself either through your limited experience or I guess the Internet because you can learn anything from it now.

It's really not that complicated, it's just something you got to do instead of thinking about doing it.

I talk to them and they agree, but then a couple days later it all goes back to normal, as if they can't stop trying to control me

Sorry to say this but grow the fuck up once you leave them you have to depend on yourself it's your own fault if you can't get your shit together.

this is literally why i dropped out of college
i didnt know how to wake up early and would always miss my classes
dropping out was an awful feeling. you dont want to have to go through that. all of my friends are graduating this year and even though i moved out, have a good job, and a company car, theyll still have a piece of paper that says theyre better than me.
I could go back to school but i have a really banging job right now and i dont want to give that up or jeopardize it
youre gonna learn real fuckin quick what you need to figure out to do so put some effort into it before this school year is over

Glad to know I'm not the only with these kinds of parents, I've been slowly asking for more and more privileges, but it's really slow progress and sometimes it seems as if all effort goes to waste
