Hello,
recently I've had this problem with Source games, especially in TF2, which would make my fps go from 300-350 to 40-50 for few seconds, then back to normal and so.
What may cause this problem and how to fix it?

post yr rig
it's unlikely a cfg issue but you could post that too

It sounds like there's a program on your computer that refreshes every once in a while and it uses processing power, or something like that.

sounds like cpu overheating imo, does it happen in other fairly cpu-intensive games (or just check ur temps while it's running xD)? If it only happens in source games maybe post your cfg there might be a messed up setting or something

Same thing is happening to me as well. I haven't overclocked my CPU and it's not overheating though. Just happens in TF2
