LOL. Ok, TF2C steal ideas from TF2Lobby. It's senselessly.

Wholegraini refuse to answer this question until i see at least 12 australian players on tf2stadium

That's one of the big problems, the size of the playerbase.

While sites like champ.gg cater towards legitimate 6s players, TF2C and TF2S function almost identically (mumble functionality, creating a lobby, etc are differentiated) and cater towards relatively the same playerbase. TF2S didn't advertise themselves as a more exclusive way to play HL lobbies without the cancer or inexperience, which would have been nice. Ultimately, both will exist, and one won't really kill the other.

These things aren't set in stone, though. Now that two sites exist, we can expect to see more improvements in the future, due to competition. KevinIsPwn is highly active here, and TF2C admins have shaped up since the fundraising incident.

aren't you rushing things a little bit?

you can't talk about tf2c's potential, the site's been around for years and clearly saw best days, now it's just a platform, pretty much nowhere to grow for them

tf2s was launched yesterday, you can't say for sure what's gonna be better, of course it has the potential in terms of the site itself, it looks neat, nice people running it, but the playerbase is nowhere near compatible to tf2c's and the site itself isn't finished (bugs, suggestions etc.), just got to wait and see what's gonna happen, the biggest rival is still has yet to come for both tf2c/s

and making this topic is literally 'lol lets have another drama thread about how bad/good this and that site is' which I don't like

Sorry if I annoyed you. That's not really what I intended this discussion to be about. It's not really the playerbase that I was looking to compare, but the usability of the sites, and most importantly how well the sites (will) accomplish their goal. The playerbase should mostly be based off this.

As the polls show, TF2Stadium seems like the preferred site even though it was just launched yesterday, and is constantly being updated from user suggestions.
On the other hand, TF2Center hasn't added anything major or new from the past years because there has hardly been any competition from other sites. In my opinion, TF2Center's ui is already worse than stadium's at this point.
Therefore, I feel like this arising competition is likely to create more room for major updates from TF2Center, as a result of the new competition, and maybe we'll be able to speculate and compare both sites' potential updates.

I personally don't think tf2c is gonna do anything about it unless tf2s actually blows up and gets a big (and I mean really big) part of their traffic, as I said they don't need to implement anything new or bring major updates at this point, site-wise I don't see anything I would want to be changed in tf2c (not looking too deep into it tho), people-wise you can't do anything with them and that's just the way the cookie crumbles

people see the potential in tf2s and that's a good thing, but really nothing else you can speculate about at this point other than questionable decisions by tf2c admins only bringing more controversy and showing them in a bad light - as if we don't know what kind of people run the site and their reputation - and that's why I thought it's gonna be a drama topic

Tf2 stadium still has the same problem of people leaving which ruins lobbies but at least it's not run by nobheads and you don't get kicked from the lobby without you noticing. Also it looks a bit nicer imo.

Stadium is better in every single way. The only downside of it ATM are the bugs, which they are working on smoothing out. When the site goes live I'll never play another lobby on center.

The problem will be to convince the regular majority of the players. Unless center closes it's doors you will have people that use what they're used to.

functionally they're the same thing

it's a shame that people had to spend months of their own time creating tf2stadium but I suppose there is no reason to use tf2center anymore since a marginally better alternative is available

I think one of the major pluses to tf2stadium is that you can actually use it in the in-game steam browser.

Really annoyed me that tf2center didn't allow that.

As the person who started this project, my personal intention was never to start a fight with TF2C. Heck I used to be an admin on their site and put probably 100s of hours of my own time into that site so doing anything to harm them would've been counter productive.

The way I see it, TF2Stadium's massive selling point is the open source nature since if anyone who has experience in the languages we wrote the site in (mostly GO and CSS but check our github) want to contribute to the site in any way then they can do so at their leisure and I believe the fact that it's not just our developers making the site allows our project to improve from a whole communities worth of experience.

In addition the GPL license we've put on 90% of the site code means if anyone wants to use any part of it to make another website then all we ask is you credit us somewhere on your site. No costs, no strings attached. Our code is there to help the community and it will continue to exist even if our site goes under and for me that is something that is more important than beating the competition.
