My current routers sucks, if i use the wifi in the same room as my router, on different computers, i get 2.5 mb down, if i connect the ethernet directly to the pc i get 23 mb down. My router is covered by nothing and the connection should be fine. I've had it for 6 years now. Im looking to buy a new router but I don't know where to start, suggestions?

mb = millibit.
Do you mean MB/s, MiB/s or Mb/s = Mbit/s?
Assuming you don't have a ~200Mbit/s internet connection it's Mbit/s.
Even 802.11a or g should do 23 or 19 Mbit/s. So unless either your router or the receiving wifi device is from the 90s something is wrong.

Check what both devices support. There's no point in upgrading your router if your pc only supports a/b/g anyway.

Yes I think it's safe to assume he did indeed mean Mbit, considering that there's no such thing as a millibit.

You literally linked a site where you can put any magnitude affix on any unit. If you want to help me learn something new, please explain how 1/1000 of a binary information unit makes any logical sense.

Get a linksys wrt1900 ac, there expensive but some of the best connectivity I have had. Its one of the best consumer routers you can get with support for third party firmware's. This among the best of routers (next to rukus access points but that's enterprise and like 1k)

link to it on amazon
