Is there any difference between using dxlevel 80 in launch options (and deleting it after the first launch) or just having mat_dxlevel 80 in my autoexec? Since I've been using lawena and it switched my dxlevel to 98 and doesnt switch back I need to choose between one of these.

it works, but it's to be used only when out of any server, and mat_dxlevel is the same exact thing to -dxlevel in launch options

And will mat_dxlevel cause that lag when alt-tabbing if I keep it in my autoexec or not?

it's the same man, if one gives you that problem, the other will too

anyway it's mat_dxlevel 81 not 80

launch option version sets other settings such as normal mapping (matters more with dxlevel 9#)
