Shadows problem

Hate to create an entire thread about this minor problem, but I have a problem I can't seem to fix. I watched a friends demo (he uses maxframes), and the shadows became all grainy after I watched the demo:

When I go into options in TF2, video and then advanced and turn shadows to high, they reset and go back to normal. When I relaunch they go back to their blocky state.
It's probably supposed to be something in my autoexec, but there's not anything about shadows there. Yes, I have tried putting -autoconfig in my launch options.

Edit: Well if that didn't work, right click on config.cfg and autoexec, click properties, and use one of the previous versions.

edit: fuck, it doesn't work. Custom texture maybe?

Doesnt really help now but next time you watch someone elses demos make sure you set all your configs to read only. It used to stop things like this (i think).

Make sure you search through your config.cfg for all these settings, you may be doubling up on them, which could cause the config file to overwrite the autoexec's commands.

based on this I would guess that one of your binds for something simple was changed to "[action]; mat_filterlightmaps 0". try going in game and typing "bind [key]" and see if any show up something odd.

based on this I would guess that one of your binds for something simple was changed to "[action]; mat_filterlightmaps 0". try going in game and typing "bind [key]" and see if any show up something odd.

This. There's a thread somewhere around here with a tutorial on how to get the old maxframes look, where something would have to be bound to mat_filterlightmaps 0, probably wasd/space/tab. Try to rebind those keys.
