This is obviously a dramatic change to game mechanics, but the fact that there have been 30 pages of posts made in the ~48 hours after the update hit makes me wonder how many people like being forum warriors rather than tf2 players.

Someone in mumble mentioned Platinum used Scottish Resistance in his match last night. Would love to see that game, is their any recording or demo available anywhere you could point me.
Thanks, K

1) Heavy did get nerfed
2) What the hell would you Nerf on medic? Or are you talking about nerfing ubers and heals, the backbone of tf2...?
heavy didn't get nerfed as hard, and even then heavy being nerfed should speed the game up
medic is responsible for almost all stalemates and all pushes because heals are strong
demo helps counter and enforce why heals are so strong, nerfing him nerfs one of the biggest players on the offensive end, but doesn't remove all of a teams defensive ability since engineer is a class

The problem is when an engie builds a level 3 on last the demo was most likely the one who destroys it, wich is harder now because you can't always hit pipes, especially around corners, where you could just lay them on the ground. I think you need 4 stickies now and with the small amount of damage and the engie can more likely repair it a bit now. Valve either didn't think about that or they want the solly to take a bigger role in destruction. But as about now the Demoliton man can't demolish.
Also sticks need to do less self damage, that would be just fair because it's not cool when you deal more damage to yourself jumping, than to enemies spamming a bit or not waiting full 2 secs.

Honestly, if Valve should "fix" their sticky change, it should just be changed from 2s to 1s. There's no need to revert it completely back to what it was.

Alright the thing is, regardless of how you feel about the nerf, this isn't just some unlock that can be banned away. It's a change to the core mechanic of a stock weapon. It's dumb that they waited 7 years to do something like this and it may or may not end up making the game worse or less fun. It's way too early to tell, but for now demos are just going to have to deal with it, like that is really all you can do despite how shitty that sounds.
It's pretty apparent from the games that have already been played that the old style of how demo was played just won't work nearly as well anymore. Players are going to have to change how they use stickies, or they're going to have to try a different secondary such as the ScoRes or a charge shield as the sticky nerf does make these much more viable than they were before. The main reason these things were never used is simply because stickies were so good that you were actively fucking your team over if you weren't using them. This is no longer the case. As much as it may suck to hear, people are just going to have to try different things for now.
It may get changed. Massive class changes like this have happened before, not for a very long time but they have and, almost all of them were tweaked within a few weeks/months. There's really no point in complaining about it anymore, for now you'll just have to get used to it, maybe they'll make stickies a little stronger in the near future. I mean, I guess you could email Valve or something, but good luck convincing them to revert it. A promod or using that TFTrue cvar that reverts the ramp up is not the way to go about this. As others have said, it's a guaranteed way to kill this game.

One change that was suggested about 15 pages ago and wasn't sufficiently responded to was that Valve could change it from damage to blast radius (possibly with a damage nerf).
This makes it so that sticky sniping is more challenging but is just as rewarding.
What are people's thoughts on that?

Best line against this update in the whole thread.

Gg Good job on messing up the whole entire concept of competitive. Valve I sincerely thought you wouldn't mess up this badly, but you proved me wrong. This demo nerf is absolutely unnecessary. There was what so ever no reason for it either. Seriously...

They didn't ruin the entire concept of competitive? I don't agree with the nerf either (they could've done it better, not this way though), but they didn't do it for us. They did it for those complaining pub players that the weapon was overpowered. The stickybomb launcher is - in fact- overpowered, but they probably shouldn't of changed it after seven years of keeping it the same.
Again, as some other people suggested, maybe just a blast radius nerf and an added on straight damage nerf would be the proper solution? I doubt that they will end up changing it though.
I suppose we'll just have to adjust over time.

anyone got a remodel of the scattergun and rocket launcher to their old forms to I don't have to look at these disgusto viewmodels if i wanna have viewmodels on when watching demos? :(
i almost got trapped in a very small parking lot behind some chicken place today
My old monitor died and I got a new one. Then played quake for rest of the day.
the 3rd mario and luigi game is actually kinda tough to consistently execute perfectly and has a bunch of other mechanics
it's actually so funny/good i love it

I don't think a damage reversion is necessary but they could change from a damage ramp up to an equivalent blast radius ramp up so that air dets require accuracy to do full damage and can't shred teams so easily
in other words raise the skill ceiling, sounds good. i guess just hope valve reads tftv and cares about 6s more than pubs

Right.
Right.
because in reality this update did exactly what they wanted for tf2. balanced out a class that was clearly better than most of the rest and forced a defensive playstyle. they have no reason to change that unless they want to attempt to cater to us and pubbers
