Has SourceSDK been updated for steampipe? Because I've made captions successfully before, but now when I installed the SDK, it was installed in common/SourceSDK rather than myname/SourceSDK. And when I drag the closecaptions.txt onto captionscompiler.exe either from old resource location (manually created folders) or new one the compiler says it can't find user info and crashes. I tried moving the SourceSDK to yourname/SourceSDK, but it still didn't work. Any ideas?

Can't get the closecaption_english.txt file to run through captioncompiler.exe, tried everything, even mimicking the old file path. No luck :/ Any help?

SpannzerCan't get the closecaption_english.txt file to run through captioncompiler.exe, tried everything, even mimicking the old file path. No luck :/ Any help?

make a bat file and put this in it

@echo off
title "closecaption_english compiler"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\bin\captioncompiler.exe" -game "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf" "closecaption_english.txt"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\bin\captioncompiler.exe" -game "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf" -v "closecaption_english.txt" > caption.log
move "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\resource\closecaption_english.dat" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\custom\configs\resource"
pause

You need to edit the file paths to make it work for you.
The closecaption_english.txt file you want to have compiled needs to be in tf/resource

i finally fixed how to compile it, you no longer need the source sdk, how i did this was i put the closecaption_english file in the /common/team fortress 2/tf/resource folder, deleted the older one and the older .dat. then go to /common/team fortress 2/bin and in there is a new captioncompiler.exe. drag and drop the closecaption file onto the captioncompiler and it will add the .dat in the resource folder. There we go. Hope this helps as i had almost given up hope myself

I don't have access to OP's, but I've made my own which are based on those with better colors.

Screenshots if interested.

AlfieI managed to get mine to work, I put a copy of the old gameinfo.txt I happened to have saved in steamapps/username/team fortress 2/tf/

Here's a download to the old version: http://www.mediafire.com/?977xiav7l7vttn9
