MLG TF2 Ladder

Hello,

After some time, the MLG 6v6 TF2 ladder is ready to roll! All the rules are discussed and setup. You can see the ladder here.

There is no 1v1 or 2v2 ladder setup yet, but it will be worked on in the future.

Thanks to daave, garda, johnmilter, mojoe, pete, philemon, protato, ryan, shrt, waldo, and especially xen for helping with the creation.

If anyone has any questions or concerns, they can add me and message me on steam.

Edit: I already asked about the "Lag Test" rule. He said that it was not required before the match, but teams should ask for a new server if a player is laggy.

I imagine this works like the Halo ladder did, you choose a team and challenge them, so unless you are feeling really confident, you can choose not to challenge lets say, iT or Mix^ for example, instead a team of similar skill.

Since it is a ladder system it will keep track of every thing and not have that much influence on basically anything. Just think of this as a scrim finder that keep tracks of your wins/losses.

basically it's a ranking system. you challenge teams above you in order to ascend the ladder. If you lose to a teaam you challenged or a team that challenged you, then you lose points, and possibly move down in rank. if you win, you gain points, and possibly move up

The ladders work as others have said, and then when there are tournaments and things like that, the ladder placement can help with seeding the tournaments. So think of it as one indefinitely lasting season with periodic tournaments as little exclamation marks.

I think the ladder will work for MGE and UltiDuo as the games are quick and easy to play. But from my experience (this is in the EU scene) the ladder might not be very popular for 6v6 as it can take games so long to get going. I asked about a ladder system when I moved over from CS three years ago and everyone said that it just doesn’t work as people prefer to go on to IRC and get games. Hope I’m wrong, gl.

While there is nothing stopping EU plyers from joining the ladder, this is aimed for NA players. Xen did mention a possibility(?) for an EU ladder (I can't remember exactly).

I think the ladder setup could be nice to find scrims. In the early days of Clanbase, the ladder system worked pretty well for that purpose. Teams with similair skill can easily find each other and challenge each other in a semi-official match. It could fill a gap for teams that wanna try-hard and train for the main comp leagues. The rules for default and no-shows should be setup well though.
