Have you considered using the Youtube "feather" beta? I've been using it for about a week and it's helped a shit ton.
It basically disables everything but the video and comments.

Why are you minusfragging me? It actually helps. Lots people don't have their local flash storage set to unlimited, causing especially HD videos not to load. I had the problem and after changing it I was loading 1080p vids in to time again.

Everything is the same except the language used...obviously it would've helped to have a translation but it's not that it "doesn't tell me shit".
