This thread made me realize: Lange and Arie are so cool!
CRowenigmaArxI'm venting because TF.TV decided to take a different approach instead of cooperating for the good of the game...is there are a particular aspect of our coverage that you believe wouldn't be the best for the community?
do you believe TFTV as a brand is weaker than VTV?
do you believe Lange/Skyride/Comedian wouldn't have done an incredible job on the technical/production side?
are Sal/Admirable/Greg/yuki + a host of other articulate prem players (who will all been there in person) not good enough of casters?
in what sense, objectively, would this outcome not have been the best for the community?
(read bold for tl;dr)
In all honesty Arx, this needs to be addressed. I loved VTV's coverage of i46, and I actually watched a lot of VTV when I was first getting interested in 6v6. That being said, don't pull out this "us fighting for coverage is hurting TF2" bullshit when in reality VTV is the only thing splitting the community. Look at statistics for streams, page views, whatever. It's blatantly obvious that the community has chosen to make TF.TV their hub for competitive TF2. And why shouldn't they? TF.TV offers great NA an EU coverage, while VTV offers only EU coverage.
You can argue about who has better casters/streams/whatever until you're blue in the face, but the fact of the matter is Teamfortress.tv has become the central hub for competitive TF2. Hell, TF.TV still links to VTV streams/articles, and that's a one way street. On TF.TV it shows your "VanillaTV wants you" article, and shows about 10 streams online (mostly NA, some euros including Byte). On VTV there is no NA section. It shows 2 streams up right now (the 2 EU ones). TF.TV is trying to promote all TF2. VTV seems to be promoting their TF2.
I love both you and Beta when you guys cast. In fact, you two are one of my favorite casting duos (behind only DJCbear). But to be honest, I really hope you guys see the light and jump ship. TF.TV is growing steadily, and VTV has been treading water ever since TF.TV's EU coverage has gotten serious. The only thing that's holding back TF2 at this point (if you can call it that) is the fact that VTV is struggling to keep people from switching to TF.TV's streams. You realize that without VTV's stream during EU Prem matches, TF.TV's streams would likely have gotten 2000 viewers, right? You want to help TF2? Let TF.TV cover i46, like 90% of this community seems to want.
Wait, so in match tickers where both orgs are casting, we don't specifically add TFTV as a caster? What am I missing here?

and here I was waiting for the day of a vanillatf2 and tftv merger
People wanting TF2 to grow. The reason it's not is because of unfortunate events like this. The whole thing, not just this post or this particular issue and/or problem.
If we as a community, can't just suck some shit up, swallow some pride for the greater good; Why would we expect TF2 to grow?

So, anyways, the first showmatch was a huge success; at the moment, we only need a little less than ~1k to reach our goal.
Showmatch #2 incoming, this Sunday. This time, everything will be all around better. Come join us at 21 CEST this Sunday for the epic showdown between HRG and broder!

the301stspartanI thought broder vs mix^?
Nope, HRG. They agreed to play both. As they should, it's their money that TF.TV is fundraising. :P

Yep, it speaks multitudes on behalf of all the teams involved; they want to put on a good show. I'm sure they're looking for a LITTLE revenge too.

1, it is growing. 2, if it weren't, this drama would not be the reason.

People in this thread are simultaneously praising the capitalistic approach of making proposals for coverage and then are unwilling to accept the consequences of TFTV losing the contract to VTV now that Multiplay has made their decision. Given that this was always a possibility once the two organizations formally bid against each other, Arx is probably right that what would have been best overall is some amount of cooperation from the get go. Even if it shouldn't have been aired out in public, I think that is all Arx is really trying to point out here. All he wants everyone to realize is that they aren't the bad guys, and he is right - neither side is really at fault. We should accept the outcome and watch the event just the same.

I'm going to do what I can to make this happen. Just to clear the air a tiny bit.
Best suggestion for that so far by Chaplain:
<Chaplain> I'd actually like to do this as a triatholon (of games)
and:
<Chaplain> could we do it to raise money for the aussies?

I always felt that the reason you'd have both organisations casting is because it has the top teams from both scenes. If epsilon were sent over from europe to attend an esea lan (which doesn't really make sense due to seedings from the season itself but whatever it's an example), and vanillatv tried to cover the entire thing, without tftv/esea orange, people would be a little miffed too.
I would agree that tftv would have a higher production cast of i49 and it would probably end up much larger and better than what it will with vtv, but that's not going to happen. While I understand that due to 'creative differences' they won't work together for the foreseeable future, a temporary merge just for casting and streaming would've been the best thing for i49.
