Valve- Added 64-bit support for Windows/Linux client and server
- Should include performance improvements for most users
- Bugs can be reported here: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Source-1-Games/issues
- Fixed an exploit related to uploading invalid custom decals that would crash other clients
Rumor has it:
- avast!, AVG, and Bitdefender users should all be aware that false positives are likely to be triggered with the x64 .exes included as part of today's update (including vrad.exe and shadercompile.exe)
- Instructions on reporting affected files as false positives can be found here
- As mentioned above, the addition of 64-bit support is exclusive to Windows and Linux, and the x86-64/AMD64 architecture
- The status quo of TF2 being unplayable for macOS users on Intel Macs running macOS Catalina (10.15) or later, and Macs with Apple Silicon still remains true after this update. There is no word on whether an AMD64 and/or ARM64 port will occur for Mac users, but given inaction up to now plus Counter-Strike 2's abandonment of the Mac, it appears unlikely
- Additionally, a round of updated localization files have snuck in, made possible in part by contributions from Translators Like You - Thank You
- Size is ~315 MB - data capped users should be aware

Note that it's going to take some time to get all the server and client plugins ported over, I know a lot of the casting ones are near completion but no idea about the server side.
Huge step in the right direction for Valve though and I'm sure it will make developing a touch easier going forward.
Edit: CastingEssentials now functional on 64-bit with new build: https://github.com/drunderscore/CastingEssentialsNext/releases/tag/next-1

Things that are broken that I've tested:
P-Rec (RIP)
Lawena
HLAE (Most likely to get fixed, already reached out about it)
SVR
DXLevel 81 (WTF)
BETAS REQUIRE A WORKAROUND
Things that are NOT broken:
Demos from July 26th Onward

You should be able to download the old version (manifest ids can be found here) using depotdownloader / steamcmd / steam console.

was the in-game automatic demo recording improved/fixed? or do we just have to deal with that now?

billwwas the in-game automatic demo recording improved/fixed? or do we just have to deal with that now?
im currently figuring out a workaround to get actually good footage not through OBS from in game. I'm going to test out the startmovie and endmovie commands. I imagine they would work fine since lawena was just a dedicated client for those commands

Does anyone else get a black screen with the launch option -vulkan?
I can interact with the UI and even load trw but it's all black.

the dxvk garbage only works on dxlevel 90 / 95 / 100, black screen on 80 or 81. honestly wouldn't recommend using dxvk on windows anyways.

On dxlevel 95, dxvk seems to give better frames. All anecdotal, too lazy to grab a benchmark. To my eyes the demos i checked ran a sight better than on just dx95 and 64bit

Kind of curious why there's a random 20% bump for this guy.

Maybe we could start using the benchmark from shounic?
