Hi

Recently been upgrading different parts of my set up for fun because I'm rarely home to enjoy my PC nowadays so I like to spice it up every time I get a chance.

Had this mousepad Steelseries QCK heavy since I was like 12 playing MGE on low spec laptop on grandma's carpet and I'd like to upgrade it. I only got the QCK heavy because it was thick enough to not really feel the carpet so much, and at the time, I think it was sort of considered the go-to mousepad.

Are there better options in 2023? Anything that is a direct upgrade? What do you use? How do you find it?

Bonus: Share your mouse if you feeling a little risqué... if u consent to this information being leaked... if ur willing to share... (not really asking this one - its just an opportunity to be vulnerable for those who dare)

Qck is pretty outdated now. a lot of people will recommend artisan mousepads, generally the hien or zero? I got a hien myself and it was a big upgrade over my old qck. Artisan mousepads are expensive and ship from japan so they take a long time to arrive. personally when it came time to replace my hien i bought a razer strider instead, and the razer strider actually feels almost the exact same for a fraction of the cost ($30) and shipping time, so i would recommend getting that one if you want a more modern pad.

I don't think the QcK heavy was ever the go-to. That was the QcK+ which is now called the "large". See link below. I'm not sure how a cloth mousepad could be "outdated" if it still does it job for a small fraction of the cost of the Artisan. Maybe I'm just a boomer but I'm not itching to spend $100 on a cloth mousepad.

theres a big rabbit hole u can dive into when u look for the "perfect pad"
but generally speaking it just boils down to how fast or slow you want the experience to be (which also coincides with your mouse/mouse feet).
here is a good resource for referencing and comparing a bunch of good pads
i'd say a direct and affordable upgrade from a qck would be an aqua control II, but honestly anything in that green column will probably suit you

i personally cant choose between the artisan hien xsoft, LGG venus, aqua control +, or the gamesense rush :)

here's another great resource; viscose took the time to measure the dynamic & static frictions of many popular pads:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tblYvQgynVA&t pick pretty much anything from the top 2 categories and you're set.
if you wanna try glass theres a load of options, most people ik have really liked skypads tho many say they're too fast and superglide is, to most people i've spoken to, controllable enough.

I would definetly go for a X-Raypad or a Esports Tiger.

The Aqua Control II or the Wuxiang 2 Pro are both amazing mousepads with very different characteristics between them.

gonna put one out for vaxee PA here, really nice big pad for reasonable price. I use it with gpro superlight and tiger ice skates and it feels wonderful.
