2 main questions in this discussion really:

1: how truly effective do you think a dm heavy pocket demo using quickiebombs would be? Assuming you have two gunboats to follow up/ start fights, and do you think the quickiebombs beat the sticky
launcher in this field.

2: Would a hybrid style utilising both be even slightly viable? Maybe using stickies on last points for the pure area denial and the quickiebomb on mids maybe

quickie launcher is nice but the clip size fucks it hard. unless you go super aggro every fight and kill everything quickly i'm pretty sure you're just better off with stock.

the sticky explosion radius on quickiebombs is what makes it pretty shit aswell as the clip size compared to stock, when you need to put out constant damage stock is infinitely better, quickiebombs are good for 1v1s against scouts because of det speed, also good for clearing traps on points/chokes and tilting the enemy demoman

realistically though you should use both whenever you want everything is down to preference and certain situations one being better than the other (quite a few people prefer pushing last with quickiebombs due to being able to clear stickies off the point and not being in the uber etc).

Quickiebombs could be a stupidly powerful weapon in fights, but they should go back to what they were before where they fizzle after a few secs and theres 6 in the clip. ATM it's trying to have best of both worlds and you would need to manipulate the game as a team quite a lot to maintain situations that favour quickies.
If you could control the game that much though, they absolutely could be used full time - they are the best weapon in the game for direct damage over multiple distances - but they are very very unforgiving because there's 4 in the clip and the majority of players are bad enough at stickies let alone the mechanics of the quickies that make them harder to use. It would take more than just amazing DM to take full advantage of this weapon.

I was a huge advocate of old quickies because they required a lot of skill to be used properly but were very rewarding, since the 4 clip and no fizzling it just feels like the sticky launcher for people that don't know what they're doing/a good sidegrade for pushing lasts.

I think the quickiebomb is better than most people give it credit for, but I think it actually suits an opposite playstyle better. The fast charge time and air detting makes sniping with them really easy and you can do a lot more damage quickly from far away than people are expecting. the extra distance you have from people lets you reload a lot safer since you only got 4 shots and if you pair it with loch you can spam those from really far away too, you just got shit all for ammo and you better hope you got something loaded if a bad guy gets too close

1 - As nuze said it is a good weapon for direct fighting. With it it's extra important to reload multiple stickies at once and not fiddle too much with stick/pipe combos (it slows reload too much).
It does not beat the sticky launcher which is better at laying ground sticks to block a path simply because of greater clip size.
I also think it's a very good weapon for extra passive play : simply stand far away from fights and throw charged stickies, enjoy the increased long range fire rate.

2 Yes. As point 1 stated you can use quickiebomb more or less full time. It's especially good at following things : dry pushing (wipe the sticky trap and rush through), last pushes (remove sticks on point), granary middle (snipe players easily), viaduct (forward hold breaking/stay china like a pussy and give all the heals to scouts)

Quickies are at their most effective when you're sniping people across the map or 1v1ing scouts. You don't want quickies if you're going to be in a fight that requires you to put out any sustained damage.

1) Probably not very effective, it's like running a pocket with direct hit but the direct hit only has 2 shots in the clip. Even if you hit all your shots you can only kill 1 buffed class per clip, not very practical.

2) Quickies are pretty shit on mids, you don't want to be wasting time reloading you want to be doing the dam dam. If you're ever going to be running quickies you're going to be pushing last. They work well with kritz and allow you to remove stickies from point very cleanly.

Spritethe sticky explosion radius on quickiebombs is what makes it pretty shit aswell

Don't know where this myth is coming from, they have the same radius and have never had different radius.
