I need some help in choosing a monitor between these two: This BenQ monitor and this Asus monitor

If you have better monitor choices, feel free to recommend me it. My budget is $180.

speaking of fps, is it normal for getting less than 300 fps in csgo and tf2 with i5 4590 and gtx 750ti on all low settings on 1024x768?

Slightly above your budget, but seems worth if you can stretch it that extra bit.

Save for the 144hz. If you absolutely can't spend more than $180 don't waste your money on getting a 60hz "Gaming" TN panel.

Just get an IPS monitor, it'll look 10x prettier.

Something like http://smile.amazon.com/Acer-H236HL-bid-23-Inch-Widescreen/dp/B00AZMLIDQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1440058224&sr=1-2&keywords=ips+monitor

I actually just realized something about the monoprice monitor: It isn't 3D ready.

Would this affect anything to games like TF2 and CSGO?

So it would play tf2, csgo, etc. like how it would on 3d ready monitors?

One more question, why is it cheap compared to other 144hz monitors? Is there a catch?

Yeah, this is a monitor that will work great for games. What it doesn't have is the capability to play 3D video, like the movies you watch in theaters that you need the special glasses for. It's cheap because monoprice sells its products under a generic name, and they source their stuff directly from factories rather than from a middleman.

does the monoprice have any noticeable detriments that something like the asus wouldnt have (eg color calibration/profiles, build quality, etc)?

Just to hijack this thread a bit, does anyone know of any good deals on a 144hz? That monoprice deal expired. I'd settle for the Asus vg248qe but if there's a cheaper one or one that's on a deal I'd appreciate the heads up
