I didn't want to get involved with this at first but I feel like something must be said at this point.

Why isn't CEVO the obvious choice to replace ESEA?
This community constantly complains that there is not enough support for the competitive TF2 scene but whenever an organization comes along to give us support we ignore them. We are doing the same exact thing with CEVO and it makes no sense

CEVOPipherWe've had trouble convincing teams to sign up over the past 3 seasons for a variety of reasons, even though as far as I know we are the only league giving away cash + hardware prizes, with an anti-cheat, and reliable (full-time) staff without charging anyone a penny.CEVOPipherIn some of our games with larger participation we have multiple skill divisions, larger prize pools, and live match broadcasting (matches of the week). There's only one reason that CEVO TF2 doesn't have these things, and that has to do with the number of teams that sign up each season.CEVOPipherAt this point, we only have 7 active teams in Season 3...If we were to have an influx of teams register in Season 4, it would certainly be one of our top priorities to get an experienced TF2 player to join our volunteer staff.

Its is a free league, with a prize pot, staff and anti-cheat. They are willing to bring people in from out community to make their league formats better and are willing to give us even more support if we give them ours.

But instead we are going to support a league that doesn't offer nearly as much potential and the only reason is that its more familiar.

I am sick and tired of seeing this shit every season, those options will always be open to us because they are run by our own community. CEVO is not an option that will last forever and it won't be an option for much longer(IGL?). They are already losing $600 this season and only 7 teams joined, I'm sure this next season will be the last time they reach out to our community with this opportunity.

CEVO has the potential to be the next big TF2 league, but it won't become that if we don't support it.

And yes, this makes me upset

I agree with Tagg. Their league has shown interest in taking us in and accommodating our current divisions.

The only downside to CEVO is that their site is a bit difficult to navigate to certain items, along with no stats and the availability of demos/stv servers. But this could be changed.

I agree. They are also willing to respect esea ranks and moveups, it would still be you and your team playing at the same level you would be.

This is easily changed, especially if the community supports CEVO enough.

I'm going to finish this season + if we make playoffs, then sign up on CEVO.

Plus, CEVO already has the participation of high level TF2 players. I think that comp TF2 will go wherever the talent goes, CEVO doesn't seem to have any downside for a jump-off platform. It will not be perfect the first couple of seasons, but to Tagg's points, it's the smartest switch if there is to be one.

Oi

Seriously, as far as I know CEVO is currently pretty small compared to ESEA and if many more joined "we" could tailor it with the help of the community and CEVO. They would be the vehicle for the change and the community would make the rules, whitelist, etc...

I've known about CEVO for years back in the days of css and always questioned why not a lot of people used it. Good to see it getting some attention now

setting up an identical league to esea with cevo wouldn't be even kind of difficult (lan excluded). would just take a few community leaders discussing shit over with pipher, and i'm sure we could get a lot of the shit we wanted esea to do (improved stats, leniency in decision making/rules, etc). we could also do away with ugc 6's since cevo is free and thats the big thing dividing the 6's community and that'd make our 6's numbers a lot more impressive

I've been in this season of cevo since preseason. We have played one match vs lonely hearts which we got 5-0 on, and since then have racked up 4 ffws. Of the 7 teams left, zero of the teams have played all of their matches. The top team is Bob & Weave (Pyyyour's team) which has 3 wins 5 weeks into the season. Even now after all this has gone down cevo isn't getting the support it should. I remember during the offseason ppl said "Yea CEVO!!!!" and here we are. Put your money where your mouths are people and actually play, im sick of getting ffw's.

Everyone was busy taking their ESEA and UGC more seriously. But if people actually play some CEVO it will be a thing.

Thats what always happens. Preseason: "Lets play cevo! Screw ESEA!" week 3: "Sorry guise ESEA is too important." And taking UGC seriously? Have you seen platinum this season?

just make a team for UGC and CEVO, and play both. If I'm not mistaken, you'd now be playing 2 matches a week like you used to, and we could stress test both leagues at once to see which one fits our community the best.

there are only 4-5 active teams, cevo is rescheduling matches between dead teams...
