#3 upgrading windows in Off Topic

Yup.

http://www.mydigitallife.info/download-windows-7-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit-direct-download-links/

Download the iso you need (THIS IS LEGAL)
Purchase a key online (you can probably use some sort of software to crack it, but I won't endorse/instruct you how).

Microsoft have a tool that allows you to put the installer onto a USB drive for even faster installation.
http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

With USB3 on a 1GB/s r/w raid array I was able to get the install done in a few minutes.

Hope that helps.

#14 Dota 2 Binds in TF2 General Discussion

Speaking of binds, why the hell have my \ and ` key's functions decided to change as of late? I have an autoexec and in my config ` bound to toggleconsole (or +toggleconsole whatever the hell it is) and \ with the showscoreboard cvar (+showscores ?).

Any ideas? :/

#3 Open Pocket LF Mentor in Mentoring

Hi! I'm always willing to help people that are keen to improve. Problem being I currently work full time and live in Australia (so time zones don't line up at all). What I can do is if you post some demos I'll post some feedback and I could maybe properly catch up with you on weekends if you were willing.

If you want some background before chasing me up - I've spent the past 2.5 years (7 or so seasons) of being in the #1 team in Australia (probably not too relevant but w/e). I've played both pocket soldier and demoman, and am the main caller for my team.

#74 b4nny pov in TF2 General Discussion
ClandestinePzI don't get how some people can act like pyyyour isn't qualified to criticize b4nny, when pyyyour was a member of the most dominant TF2 team in history, a team which was able to shut b4nny down despite the fact that he'd bee playing at an insanely high level all lan. In my opinion pyyyour would be the very best person to analyze b4nny's demo since he would be able to explain both why he is so effective and exactly what strategies and techniques mixup successfully used to counter him.

That being said I think pyyyour needs to develop thicker skin. Part of being a high level player in any spectator sport involves learning to tolerate criticism and abuse from idiotic fans. 2 trolls out of 100 viewers seems normal. Just ban the idiots and move on and just be glad they can't throw things at you while you play.

QFT. Pure - sure there may have been 2 people out of 100 trolling and not valuing your opinion, but the other 98 were the ones that really wanted to hear what you had to say. Isn't that what matters most? Assisting the majority that actually wants to learn and get better, compared to the mere 2% that were just being dongfaces.

Have no idea why anyone would dismiss Pure's opinion anyway. He is an extremely experienced and intelligent player - people would just be ignorant to think otherwise.

#22 strategy and theorycrafting threads/section? in TF2 General Discussion

Build orders are completely different from something like rollouts. Very often once your team gets to mid, the decision on what you're going to do on said rollout changes due to a myriad of possibilities.

"Set build orders" rarely change. I do understand that you said the example you provided is simple, and that players are required to adapt etc, but it still won't be as effective as something like a build order (imo). I guess it could work in the way that build orders typically have a transition into the mid-late game, where doing x on a rollout can allow you to do y on rollout, but that's me just speculating.

Obviously if people want to do it they shouldn't feel discouraged. Previous posts probably say this better but that's my 2c.

#4 Progression: Moving a team to its second season in TF2 General Discussion

Grillz with some great points - deleted previous because I dragged on a bit so it's round 2.

All I have are some short points

- Don't play too much TF2. It's great to actively play the game you enjoy and want to improve in, but playing too much can leave you and your team burnt out.

- TF@ is a learning process. It will take time to get better - you don't become the better overnight.

- If you are actively trying to improve, you WILL improve.

- When off-season rolls around, don't try and have the same scrim schedule as on-season. Take time to reflect on what happened during the season, and what you can do better as a team next season.

- Have fun. Sure you're trying to improve, but don't forget that the main aim of playing games is to have fun.

how wrong I was

re: "TL;DR - don't leave your team (especially mid-season for the matter) unless it is actually important. Stop being a bitch."

Normal working hours of AU : 9-5 AEST.

good one auburn

holy fuck you got raped

go watch some anime to cool down

this entire discussion makes australia's tf2 circlejerks seem less petty

??

The only real circle jerks present are those formed by average players (eg you) that lucked into div1 and were promptly removed from said div1 team.

For the record I am very cooled

@ brown: for the record, there's obviously no way I (or anyone for that matter,
ar ESEA doing something with rules) can actually change peoples attitudes on staying vs just plain ditching a team. But they NEED to stopleaving if the only reason is "not winning". If your team is serious about the game and trying to improve, it is petty to leave just because they aren't instantly producing outstanding results. And I already stated that those with serious circumstances are obviously not assholes as they have every right to, no matter how much it sucks for the team (rl -> video games).

Shit obviously happens. Doesn't ALWAYS happen :/
