#18 Darwin's danger shield is a flawed design in TF2 General Discussion
ComangliaFor the topic at hand though this is what I'd like to see a DDS do

+25HP
-80% afterburn duration maybe higher (would make afterburn last about 2s)
-50% explosive knockback

idk making it more of pyro counter/juggling counter makes it a whole lot less toxic but still useful than it currently is.

did you just list no downsides

sorsakKaltUuAre you running in windowed mode or full screen?
Windowed fullscreen. I also have 2 monitors(if that makes a difference)

Windowed fullscreen using -window -noborder?

try renaming your entire cfg folder and then running autoconfig at the same time.

#2 Working linux server not port forwarding. in Q/A Help

Can you post a log?

Sounds to me like the VM has multiple network adapters and you need to force the server to bind to the non-default one by forcing the IP, like you suggested.

Screen does not act like a VM and would not cause this. I've used both Screen and Byobu with TF2 servers before without issue.

It's available internally because it's bindingto the internal adapter rather than the external one.

Are you using Virtualbox or VMWare?

Okay, in the short amount of time I tried getting Quickplay to work I wasn't able to make the server registered fully. It's back up now for the evening, enjoy.

catman1900I feel like the original should be allowed to be used as it's basically stock but some players prefer it more than stock.

But... It is allowed. For that reason.

Vegan_MeatBy default, Quickplay no longer sends players to non-valve servers and players who know how to change that know how to use the server browser.

You'd be surprised, actually. Most people don't bother to use the server browser, even for community maps, unless they're looking for a custom game mode like prophunt or a jump map.

tscYou may not be able to enter QuickPlay since you're blacklisting cosmetics:
TF2 Quickplay OverviewModifications not allowed in quickplay
  • Granting or modifying economy items, or taking actions that devalue players' items, or interfering with the TF2 economy

I've done a bit of research into this one myself and it seems that it only refers to things like per-server unusuals or items for players without those items in their backpack, or custom items entirely. It looks like servers are able to ban items for all users without issue. I'm looking into this more though.

You can have random crits disabled as long as you don't remove the nocrits tag, but then players will have to choose to play on nocrits servers for them to join your server via QuickPlay.

Alright, there's a LOT of misinformation spread around. I'm gunna have to sit down and just troubleshoot everything.

The server might be going through a bit of testing for the next few hours. I'll have it back to normal for this evening though

Today I'm going to work on getting the server involved with Quickplay.

The following will have to stop happening in order to do so:

  • Class limits have to go away.
  • The player count will have to be raised to 24.
  • Random crits have to be enabled. Damage spread and bullet spread does not.

Additionally, it's unclear to me whether or not custom maps will stop it from entering Quickplay. If I'm reading their wiki correctly then players won't be shuffled in from Quickplay while the server is on a custom map, but after the map changes to a Valve map Quickplay players will enter again, and they'll stay for the transition to a custom map (if they choose to do so).

How are the player counts on average right now? The most I've ever seen was 8 players in the server, so I think Quickplay might be the solution.

EDIT: I've found some more up-to-date information. Maps from the Workshop are supported if the player opts in in the Quickplay menu. However, random crits have to be enabled, which is a pretty big issue. I'll continue researching and experimenting to see if this is accurate.
