The 2018-2019 season should just end with the western conference finals.

Is it actually coming home? With Spain going down I think the lads have a real shot at the finals.

#9 TF2 for High School E-sports League? in Esports
RagorFortnite

For something like high school esports wouldn't fortnite be absolute hell to coordinate? You'd need a way to get around 100 high schoolers in the same server on multiple occasions and implement some sort of automatic point-scoring system. For tf2 at least you'd only need to coordinate 2 teams of 6 people, although I guess the number of high schools with 6 tf2 players might be pretty low.

#70 Most overrated prem/invite players of all time. in TF2 General Discussion
vladbecause current players like catface are better than seagull, quad, tlr, etc. right?

Maybe not bottom invite playes, but guys like Sigh, Paddie, Botmode and Marmaloo would roll quad and TLR.

Botmode and Sigh specifically showed during their time on Froyo that both of them were capable players alongside b4nny, shade, and blaze, not far, if at all, behind those 3 in terms of skill. B4nny beat TLR and Seagull on LAN 4 years ago and has put in thousands of hours and played over 10 seasons of invite to improve since then. The players at his level now are better than the players at his level then.

Console- I don't imagine community financial strain being as heavy as it once was (save for production and talent going over, which afaik is being at least partially covered by ETF and is otherwise on the individual)

If that's truly the case than yes, i-Series is a fantastic opportunity for the best tf2 teams to compete. I hope we can get as many teams over there as possible.

TcmanoIf you look at iSeries, Ascents usually placed 4th with 2 other EU teams higher than them. the last time FROYO went to an iseries they lost (i58) and haven't bothered coming back since.

The last time Ascent went to an iSeries was almost 3 years ago, and their current team looks nothing like the team they sent back then. i58 Froyo and current Froyo share 1 player, so that comparison doesn't really work either.
I'm all for competition, and I'm all for both LANs seeing play, I just think that based on the current level of talent in both scenes you can get better competition by fundraising to send 1 or 2 EU teams to NA than you can by sending 1 or 2 NA teams to EU. If we can get NA teams over to i63 without having to crowdsource, we should absolutely do that, but I'm worried that if we try to raise money twice a year we won't be able to consistently send teams overseas for very long.

#160 i63 Confirmed in TF2 General Discussion

The case for Rewind being the definitive LAN hinges on the fact that NA teams are generally better than EU teams, so getting as many of them as possible to LAN provides the highest level of competition. I-series events have the history, atmosphere, lower travel cost for the average team attending the event, and better time zone for viewers, but if you're looking at the events in terms of "world championship tf2", holding the LAN in NA will give you the best games of tf2.

Ultimately, it comes down to what you're looking for in an intercontinental event, and since the best thing about I-series events are things that aren't related to the actual tf2 being played, it's fine if NA only sends a few players/pug teams. We should absolutely continue to support both tournaments going forward, but it's important to understand the difference between them. I-Series LANs are a fun time where people can play high level tf2 with 0 ping, but unless we can get at least 3 full NA teams out there, Rewind is a better world championship.

Why is EU tf2 so frustrating to watch? Every time I watch either of these teams try to push I want to vomit.
