#44 ESEA S22 Grand Finals: froyotech vs. RONIN in Matches
Muma1.2k viewer grand finals that's an xD

It has a lot to do with the last minute scheduling. It's on the players, not the community or the organization.

#10 ESEA S22 Playoffs: froyotech vs. RONIN in Matches
IloSThis event seems to be scheduled to be in about eight hours for me. Checking the match page it's way later, about 11 hours. Does anybody know what the actual time is, or am i missing something obvious..?

Event and match times were not synced on the backend - fixed.

TheWandererWhy is TLR on the roaming slot? Did I miss something?

Players are marked by class not role, there is no roaming slot on the backend as well as no roaming slot on the page itself.

#1 ESEA S22 Playoffs: froyotech vs. RONIN in Matches

The EVL vs. Froyo Black game is happening the same time as this match. Unfortunately, Froyo Black is unable to reschedule to a different night so I'll try my best to get a second cast up and running alongside the froyotech vs. Ronin cast.

Here is the match page for EVL vs. Froyo Black: https://play.esea.net/index.php?s=stats&d=match&id=7461430

Anyone still watching this? I started watching last week and I'm all caught up. I'm enjoying the 2nd season, and the most recent episode is

Show Content
19 minutes of a sitcom with commercials straight out of the late 80's/early 90's.

I loved it, the extras that came from tonight's episode are fantastic as well.

#268 faceit TF2 in TF2 General Discussion
MR_SLINI'm having a hard time understanding why I would want to play in this system other than "for the good of TF2". What is the motivation behind playing here? Is it to play against players of a similar skill level? How good is the ranking system? Are the queue times faster than that of other systems? Are the servers of higher quality than other services?

FACEIT is not just good for TF2, it might be vital to the future of competitve TF2. If ESEA ends up dying within the next few seasons we will have nowhere to go if FACEIT is dead as well. The difference between FACEIT and things like the Razer Arena tournaments is that it's an established system that has great success with other games.

The ranking system will likely work out quite well when more people play it. Even right now, the worst you're gonna get is a TF2 Center quality game, which is still better than matchmaking. It's likely that the ranking system will never produce invite level pugs for the <1% of the comp community that needs them. However, FACEIT is set up in a way that allows the majority of players to play and get better. There's no sitting around all day hoping you get picked in a PUG, you queue up and play. It doesn't ostracize the lower level players in the community from playing quality pickups at around their skill level. The main caveats are that we need to grow the player base, and they'll likely need to add a substitution system before releasing it to the public.

You might be thinking, why not just play TF2 Center? TF2 Center is fine and all but FACEIT is better is for the reasons stated in my first paragraph, it's an established system. Beyond that, it gives players multiple incentives to play more and more - whether it be ranking up, or getting FACEIT points to use in their store. To go even further, if people embrace this system and hundreds of people are playing, the ranks will even out and give players quality PUGs at all skill levels.

MR_SLINIf I'm a casual/pub player or new to comp, I'll probably just play the integrated matchmaking system because it's better than getting stomped by competitive players in a pug. If I'm a middle-of-the-road comp player I might hopefully get matched against players of a similar skill level but then again I might just be better off playing in-house pugs or lobbies where I can guarantee that I get my desired class. And if I'm a higher level player I'll probably just play PugChamp because the games will be balanced and I know what I'm getting.

The only part I agree with here is your last sentence. Your standards are likely much higher than your average competitive player, and PugChamp is fantastic service for that. Matchmaking in it's current state is awful for literally everyone. If you are new, it's probably worst of all, as you'll never get out of rank one. Getting stomped happens in every type of PUG system regardless of skill. FACEIT recently restricted group queues to 2 in order to stop groups people from rolling games. Not getting your desired class has been a non-issue in the 10+ games I've played.

MR_SLINI'm not trying to poopoo the system, but rather approach it from the perspective of a competitive player in the community. If you want me to play, you have to be providing me with value. The system itself has to be better than the other options that are out there because offering me points for CS:GO weapons or t-shirts won't cut it. This is the reason why so many other systems from other companies have failed to create good pug systems for TF2 -- the community-created systems are just better.

I don't want FACEIT to replace PugChamp, and I don't think it will. I see no reason for it not to replace TF2 Center/Stadium though. It's strictly a better service with loads of potential. The devs are quick and responsive. if you have a complaint, it'll likely be resolved or at least addressed in a minuscule amount of time. The quality of games will perpetually get better and better as time goes on, it's just a matter of getting people to migrate over.

That's where I feel like TF2 streamers can come in. Even if PugChamp is a better service for you, it simply isn't for the vast majority of players. It's probably a good idea to at least dabble in FACEIT in order to spread the word to newer/up and coming players that want to play comp (aka a lot of people who frequent streams).

pendaall these NA casters suck now

I disagree that we all suck, but if you (or anyone that thinks the same) could provide some constructive criticism, it would help everyone. It's kind of shitty to be talked down upon then receive no feedback on how to improve.

#6 ESEA S22 W9: -bird noises- vs. RONIN in Matches

Yes, you are correct. Both teams currently have 51 rounds won, so even if -bird noises- wins 1-0 against RONIN they will make playoffs.

It's all good. It just seems to happen every match page. I do things too quickly and I always end up making a mistake with the variables on the backend. :(

#7 ESEA S22 W9: EVL Gaming vs. FROYO BLACK in Matches

Word is that EVL will be playing a double header tonight with FROYO BLACK being the second of the two games. If anyone from Sal's Canal can let me know if they are going to forfeit or play that would be much appreciated.

While it's not 100% accurate, I've scheduled the match on tf.tv to be played at 11pm EST tonight.
