all humans have pretty much the same genes but different "races" (not the right word, as races encompass so many distinct groups of people) have different allele frequencies through natural selection, fine-tuned to the needs of their environment
it's impossible to hand wave over the entire issue of race and say that they are all the same, but believing certain groups of people to be inferior is ignorant. all groups of people are specialized to their environment and yet possess the same potential for growth, and over time the racial distinctions will disappear as the people who formerly had to adapt to slavery now have to adapt to living in society as equals with everyone else
