You CAN push off damage, but I wouldn't suggest it when both teams have the same numbers. Sure pushing off good damage is an advantage for you, but you are pushing into a defended position which gives the other team an advantage, plus they have sticks up somewhere which you need to deal with so that's another advantage for them. If you have über advantage or more players up you could push on good damage, but in those situations you already have a big advantage and would be pushing anyway.

You don't need to sit around all day waiting for a pick to push, but It's the smart play IMO

If you can find the razer carcharias on sale there I highly recommend it. I've been using it for over 2 years. Great sound quality and mic. No issues with the wires or anything. A lot of people trash razer, and it's true that a lot of the stuff they make is overpriced crap, they actually do have a few really amazing things. Deathadder, goliathus, carcharias.

your AIM is all on you, but the mouse you use does have an effect on your play. If your mouse has a lousy sensor, it can throw off your tracking which in turn will effect aim. A mouse will not "make you better", but it will let you play your best. You don't need some super expensive mouse, just something with a good sensor and maybe some side buttons (they come in handy).

A hard drive cooling fan isn't really necessary. Your PC wont even let itself boot if the CPU fan wasn't working, but there is nothing like that with hard drive cooling fans. To me it sounds like the problem is with the HDD itself. What kind of drive is it, and how old is it?

You play competitive TF2. You don't need to worry about things like that.

i got 2 pairs of these on cyber monday (they were like $12 or something). they are fucking great.

i am right handed, but i play lefty. I use a weird set of controls. I dont like using the left handed viewmodel with my stock RL. Since its more comfortable for people to flick away from their body for RJs it makes jumping with the stock launcher a little tricky for me. I use the original and that helps a lot. plus i come from the original quake, and the original TF mod so its nostalgic for me to use it =)
