#12 CEVO: Froyotech vs Exertus - in Events
WILDFIRErumor has it froyo and xts have been trading scrims a lot lately should be a sweet match

We've traded scrims with them consistently since the middle of the season, maybe a little more in their favor. Our problem is that the three times we've played them in matches (once in CEVO, twice in ESEA), we get crushed in the first half (usually a quick 3-0) and then it's very even in the second half. Not really sure why that happens to us against them so consistently in matches, but we'll have to show up when the game starts and not at halftime if we want to win.

Should be a good match.

#24 Need help getting back up again in Off Topic

One thing you need to accept is that things will definitely work out for you. You might not get what you want when you want it, but as long as you don't fall into a downward spiral of "life sucks, nothing works out for me, I'm not gonna try anymore," then you'll be fine. It's so easy to just say "fuck it. I don't care anymore," and then do nothing.

You don't have to be irrationally optimistic 24/7, but really, just accept that things will work out for you.

#37 Family issues when playing in Off Topic
SnowyIn high school there's more than enough time to prepare for school and play hours upon hours of video games every day. Don't pretend your parents are forcing you to choose between TF2 and studying; you can easily do both. You just don't want to study. Can't fix a problem if you refuse to acknowledge it.

That being said, be nicer to your parents. They only want the best for you, even though they're not sure how to go about getting you there.

Don't listen to the idiots telling you to move out. You're nowhere near independent enough to do so. It'll only hurt your family, and in the end, yourself.

This is a great post.

But in the original post, I really will not believe you have no time to study except at night. Most high schools get done around 2 or 3 PM, which gives you at least ~5 hours to study. You don't even have to study for the full ~5 hours, either. Maybe study for like 2-3 hours, then do whatever. However, if there is truly no chance to study except during the time you want to play TF2, then the answer is obvious. Don't get me wrong, studying can be very dull, but it's one of those things where if you end up not performing well enough, you'll regret it.

You can't really be angry at your dad, either. I mean, think about it. You didn't do well on a few tests, and you even just admitted to us that you can't find time to study because you're playing TF2. He wants you to do well in school so you can have a respectable GPA, therefore getting you potential scholarships and getting into a good college. Once you graduate highschool, you can't undo anything that you've already done. You might as well do the best you can, because what you do there can and will impact your future openings in colleges / jobs.

R3VoltYo, do we have the same parents or something? My family is Vietnamese and I get this shit all the time. Used to play ESEA Open and I'd have to leave a couple scrims early and missed others. Left one match early as well. Parents thought I was addicted, even though I was getting B+ to B- in school. Then my grades started dropping, my parents said from video games. It wasn't though, it was from all the stress of my parents arguing with me and shit. Fucking hell, I already have gray hair, AND I'M 16.

Anywho, I quit playing TF2, I only play it casually. Just don't fucking listen to your parents. They're lunatics and so are mine. They REALLY, like REALLY, do not understand commonsense nor do they want to. Here's a story about logic and commonsense. I was about 180 lbs last summer and I wanted to lose weight. I went and lost weight. I weigh 140 now which is a good range for the height/age I'm at. My mom thinks I'm TOO SKINNY. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? LMAO, it takes a lot for me to not just burst out about how utterly ridiculous their train of thought is. (Sorry for the reference, but) They are like an autistic train; trains have multiple paths they can take. The best one is the one that rides you to the next station, then there are MULTIPLE paths that are blocked off. Guess which one they take? Yeah...

So, for all intents and purposes, just ignore them. You know better than them. Focus on school, show them that you can do EVERYTHING and that you don't need them. Once you get where you need, spit on their shoes and walk. It is too taxing to argue with them. Hope all goes well for yah mate.

Ferskin, please don't listen to this post. Because if you really believe you are definitely, unquestionably more knowledgeable than your parents and that you should "just ignore them," you are fucking sorely mistaken. But I was pretty naive when I was 16 too, haha.

I don't think I can name a single person I know who completely neglected their parents and are currently successful today.

GatanaterIs there going to be a team signup before getting to the venue?

It's still early, so I'll make a team list probably around August. I don't want to make a team list now and then have everyone change it around constantly.

I don't think Manziel will turn it around for the Browns until they get more talent. Though things could be good if he gets good chemistry with Jordan Cameron.

#60 When do we find out that secret? in TF2 General Discussion
BurnDLThe secret is that they threw a game against rent-A-Homies to get third seed. Possibly to play against B4nny's team in the first match of LAN. It really isn't anything special.

WILDFIREoh look mixup threw one or two games like they do every season for optimal playoff seeding

BIG SUPRISE

You know that there is literally no advantageous difference between second and third seed, right? Rent-a-homies play Viaduct well.

PlatinumTheFragilePlatinumI want to go to this but have no way of getting my computer up there, I could probably bring monitor cables peripherals, I see above there's a plan in the works to address the issue of people without comps, any updates?
I won't know any updates on this for a few weeks.
Tickets won't sell out by time you know will they?

Nah, you'll be fine. From what I was basically told, we would have the LAN as big as we wanted. If we decide to cap it off at a limit, then everyone will know immediately with great urgency and a lot of time to spare.

However, if anyone has any intention on going, just buy your ticket now. The ticket price will rise another $5 in a month or so (I think that's the final rise in price), but you can always get a refund until two weeks from the event.

#7 Win7 not using wired over wifi. in Hardware
mr64bitMake sure it isn't an "automatically assigned" address. (169.something I think)

Yeah, if it comes up as 169.254.x.x (link-local address), then you're not getting anything from the router's DHCP table.

What's wrong with using Google's public DNS? I use it, even though the DNS automatically assigned to me beforehand worked just fine too.

flamedisable the wireless adapter and the ethernet adapter in the connections window thing

then re enable the ethernet adapter

and then do an ipconfig /reset /renew in cmd prompt.

also: ipconfig /flushdns

can't hurt, considering you're having DNS issues.

BoneSTheFragile just a suggestion but it might be worth adding 2 more sections to your list

People who need a computer/monitor

and

People who have a spare computer/monitor

We are currently looking into getting computers for players to use at the event, but I'll put up those lists if that idea falls through.

Foxum so

how do people find teams for lan/when should i really start making an effort to look for a team lol

i've never been to any prior lans so i don't really know when i should start to panic that i won't be able to find a team to play with

You can start putting out your interest now, but I'll make a team list in the coming months. Next to that, there will be a "looking for team" list that you can put yourself in if you're still looking.
