nice guy, spent like 3 hours talking to me about tf2 out of the blue one night. told me some valuable things and went out of his way to help.

CondescendingCandlestickI loved the song choice and edits in San Francisco, reminds me of Cla. But always remember, there is such a thing as over editing.

I understand, my focus in my next clip will be finding the right balance between under and over edited, which is by no means an easy task as you can't really make everyone happy, although I certainly agree with those saying san francisco was a bit much.

#3 Lawena not recording? in Q/A Help

I had this same problem for a while too. I reinstalled several times, messed with the config, reverted to older versions, and nothing worked. I eventually reinstalled and it worked for me. I'm sorry this probably isn't super helpful and I'm sure far from the optimal solution but it's all I have.

scrimshaweh mason's kinda right even if he was a dick about it. the video seemed more about the editing than the frags

I think what mason is saying is perfectly valid, but the emphasis is supposed to be more so on the editing than the frags. I definitely understand if that isn't really your cup of tea and in that sense maybe "frag clip" is a misleading title. either way I appreciate the comments so far, and thanks for watching.

mnice dude youve gone from videos where i can tell who fragged who to videos where im not even sure its tf2 anymore

idk why everybody learns vega/ae/mb just to make the same fucking videos that everybody else makes

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it.

LazyPandaIt was really good I just feel like you used too many smooths. That might just be me but I felt like there were 3 setting up each clip and it seemed unnecessary

I got that from a few people while making it, personally I like the smooths but that may just be because of the time I put into them. I'll be trying to find a better balance in my next video, whatever that may be so I appreciate the feedback.

#1 san francisco - frag clip in TF2 General Discussion

hi, colours got a pretty good reception so i'm pretty happy to present a new clip, a bit longer this time and featuring primarily demos from tf.tv. I wanted a really upbeat, happy feel and I think I achieved that. I personally feel it's an improvement to colours but you can be the judge.

as always, criticism is very very much appreciated, i'm constantly looking to improve and your comments can make a big difference.

thanks

#1 final. looking for demo in Recruitment (looking for team)

hi, i'm the leader of finalforce, we're a silver team and we're looking for a new demo. we've been together for 4 seasons, going on 5 now and we have 4 of 6 from the original roster in our first season. although I realize silver isn't really seen as very glamorous as opposed to open, we are all dedicated to improving, as well as having fun. given we've been together for a good amount of time and are all pretty close, we're looking for someone in it for the long haul. we scrim 8-9:30 est most nights, and just want someone easy going and willing to put in some time to get better too.

our current roster:
crafty - medic
blossom - scout
ex - scout
viscamus - pocket
tay - roamer
demo - ????

if you're interested add me, we'll give anyone a shot.

#9 Weekly Edits? in TF2 General Discussion

I don't really have a name for myself right now but if it means anything to the idea I'd be willing to put in the time to edit a clip or do a tutorial or something of the sort.

#6 Scout LFT S15 in Recruitment (looking for team)

he played for my ugc team a while back as scout, and how rapidly he improved was ridiculous. very good dm, insightful, and a really level head while playing. can have fun playing while still maintaining a professional attitude when it counts. without a doubt in my mind, visc is one of the most dedicated players i know and a pretty great guy too.

#13 Frag Video in TF2 General Discussion

If you ignore the frags, it is actually pretty good for your first time. The frame rate wasn't awful, you didn't render with huge black bars, didn't destroy colors, custom skybox, etc. All I know is it is a hell of a lot better than what I first did, and it's definitely a start.

#1 demo call in TF2 General Discussion

hi guys,
i'm a new editor on the scene and I was looking for a few demos to make some new clips. I recently posted colours here which had a pretty positive reception, so I'm interested in following that up with something better. I realize there's a lot of demo threads out there right now, but I really do put a ton of effort into everything I make and I'll be very grateful for anything I get.

if you want to check out some of my work, here's my channel, just keep in mind colours is the only clip I believe is truly representative of "my style" and what you can expect: http://www.youtube.com/user/tayw97

please upload demos to dropbox in the format of player_map_tick, i'm requesting pov only, as well as only 6s.

thanks,
tay

TekkAwesome video man, might I ask how you did all the awesome camera work?

hi, I appreciate the feedback and #4 I apologize, the style isn't for everyone I suppose although there were some places where I could have definitely toned down the cuts a bit.

all the camera work was either pov smoothing or stv smoothing. I picked this trick up from ams watching his stream which I assume a ton of other editors use. I didn't have any of the actual stvs, so there's a handful of third person shots where I recorded myself walking back and forth and then took the stv and used a config to smooth around the camera.
