Did you read the thread??? The majority of posts i saw were people reprimanding pred and degu and also having discussion on what would be a fair punishment. Debate over wether someone should be banned from a team fortress 2 league for posting an insensitive image on twitter does not mean that they are angry that they don't get to be racist. Don't try to take some high ground and act all dismissive without reading the damn thread. Tons of posts of people coming forward and sharing their experiences with abuse, solutions and statements being pushed from our community leaders/figureheads and discussion on the topic all warrant the thread having 500 posts. If we just say "racism is bad lol end thread" we are ignoring the issue and it will continue to be prevalent in our community.

I understand that this is a joke, but one thing to remember is that no matter how awful something someone said to someone else is, it does not warrant violence towards them, and threats of violence should be taken seriously.

unrelated but for some reason i can't view game info or join off of people anymore. I have to go to their profile and hit join game. The option straight up isn't there. Anyone have a fix?

Well said. I totally agree with you, but it is also important to remember the flip-side. We as a community need to make sure that we don't become super ban-happy, as that actually does drive a lot of people away. For example, OWL has been heavily criticized for being too ban-happy to the point of policing what their players say in twitch chat. I don't think behavior from the people at TF2Center or the UGC forums who ban people left and right for "offences" that are pretty much harmless is healthy for a small game like TF2. Now, in my opinion, bans should be given out to people who harass or heavily insult others after warnings when the infraction occurs using the service, or their forums. This issue should be handled carefully and thought should be put into each case.

I can see where the direction of this thread is going so i think its important for everyone to remember:

-Private leagues and services are private, and they can ban whoever they please. However, it is still totally valid to criticize leagues and services for how they choose to ban people.

-Saying that degu/pred shouldn't be banned is not the equivalent to defending them, what they said, agreeing with them, or thinking that racist behavior is okay.

-Just because something can be agreed to be not okay or shitty doesn't mean it warrants a ban, and thinking this is not siding with the racist, being racist, or complying with racism in the community.

someone using the n word or saying "tranny" is not them doing their best to harass and ostracize people of certain races, genders, or sexuality from the community.

Also it's worth saying to anyone who says uberchain is just an "attention whore" that these kind of situations, especially ones regarding physical abuse, definitely warrant attention in the first place.

but i do not think harassing someone on twitter warrants a ban in a tf2 league. this community is small enough where someone's reputation being annihilated is punishment enough. even if this was not the case, just banning people for being assholes never ever solves the issue, all it does is breed resentment within the community. uberchain herself handled the situation perfectly by just calling them out on twitter afterwards.
