I recently came back to TF2 after almost 10 seasons away from the game, to fill in for a friend in desperate need of a player. I fell in love with TF2 all over again and I plan to keep playing. However not only am I not performing how I'd like mechanically, but I also feel as if I am making questionable decisions and calls.

This upcoming season I am reviving Blue Elephant and playing with some of my absolute favorite people in TF2 as well as some of my best friends. We plan to go super hard next season and grind a ton. They are all absolutely insane and I don't want to be the one holding them down.

Before I quit, I got 3rd place in Open S20 with Blue Elephant, and in S22 I played for Scruff and the McGruffs in low-IM. I also recently made open playoffs with We Winston (great group of people who welcomed me back to TF2 even w/ my insane rust.)

I'd like to think I'm performing at a low IM level but another thing I'd like to work on is consistency, as some nights I'm just dropping the ball hard.

I work a ton, so putting in the grind can be rather challenging, but I'd love to watch demos 1-2 times a week and optimize my play as best I can.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. IM+ preferred

#22 Blues lft in Recruitment (looking for team)

what can i say that hasn't been said? his scout dm is great, he's got a super positive attitude and he's very helpful/understanding. he was very supportive of my team on the rough transition from ugc -> open 3 seasons ago, and made it much easier on all of us. he's incredible all around! I really hope you find a great team, Blues.

definitely do this!

this post sort of goes out to players who aren't really sure if they're ready for open or not.
if any teams/players were considering signing up, but aren't sure if you're good enough/are having second thoughts, don't think that. I was in that spot myself 3 seasons ago. i'll admit, open is kind of scary from an outside point of view because most of the teams/players look to be better than you, but that's because they took the plunge into open and improved because of it. it's incredibly worth it to make the jump because players tend to take things a lot more seriously considering you have to pay money to play in it. you will improve quite a bit, though in your first season you will probably not do so well in comparison to other teams, and that's okay! it's all about the experience and it's not about how good/bad you do, it's about playing the game, having fun and improving yourself as a player. losing a lot can be crushing on morale, but if you stay positive and look to every loss as a potential way to improve yourself from your mistakes(watch your demos!!), you'll be doing great in no time at all.

i guess the summary of it(tl;dr) is don't be afraid to take the plunge. open is exactly as the title implies, it's open to anyone. no matter how experienced/inexperienced/young/old/etc you are, it doesn't matter, because open is.. open. (to you!)

also you're contributing in helping extend the competitive life of a game we all love by doing so, it's a win-win!

#14 Dreamboat LFT Scout Open in Recruitment (looking for team)

dreamboat is definitely a solid pickup for any team looking for a great person + someone to grow with. if he seriously puts the time/hours into practicing, he'll be a super solid(potentially scary) pickup. try him out!

#7 flay lft high open scout in Recruitment (looking for team)

flay is probably the least toxic person you could ever pick up. he's super chill and will never get mad. also really great at scout w/ solid dm. will do good no matter what team he's on, he's kind of the best. pick him up!

#12 LFT Scruff High Open Scout S20 in Recruitment (looking for team)

scruff is really great both as a person and a player. been on teams of mine for 3 seasons now, he's been a pleasure to be a teammate with. he's known as the spy main scruff mcgruff, but don't let that title fool you, this man is a monster at scout as well as sniper. very good aggressive scout that can play a low heals style and go massive. honestly a really great fit for any team, and he most certainly can hang at a high open/playoffs level. good luck scruff!

#41 THE BILLDOZER lft mid open pocket in Recruitment (looking for team)

bill is a really great guy and a pocket who is dedicated to getting better. he memes quite a bit for my taste but don't let that subtract from how dedicated he is to improving. he's improved massively in his 2 seasons of pocket and doesn't appear to be stopping anytime soon. definitely a solid pickup for any team looking to get a great pocket. good luck bill!

#10 Siberias for 20$ in Hardware

I've had mine for a few months now and they're really nice, very durable. Obviously not as high quality as a studio mic and the sound quality isn't as good as a pair of really nice headphones but I find them really great nonetheless. I paid $50 for a pair on amazon when they went on sale, and I'd totally buy another pair for that, for $20 it's a steal. They're really comfortable too which is more than a plus when you are wearing them for 3-4 hours a night while playing TF2.
