#7 TFTV i49 LAN Fundraiser in News
SalamancerAlso FYI, the indiegogo and this article both say "unprecendented" instead of "unprecedented."

Fixed on both. Thanks. That's what happens when you're doing this at 2 AM.

It's here.

BTW: PayPal isn't up yet; this is my fault. It'll be ready within the week, I think. PayPal is up.

#85 Sacramento Intel LANFest April 12-14 in LAN Discussion
RJ-I feel like I would want to improve a ton after meeting anybody in person...I would love to watch them and how they play. I'm learning Pocket and Roamer since I love to jump, but my DM is lacking; I've been hitting up pugs since I can't commit to a team due to school.

I'll respond to just this, as vile and Ghostac have you covered pretty well. My short experience is that you're right. I was blown away by b4nny's real life play; it's really on another level than that I've seen anywhere else. To see it online is one thing, to see it in person is seriously something different. He also generously taught me how to c-tap, which is by far much easier to learn when you can physically see the timing.

RJIf I can go, this would be my first LAN ever; mind I ask a few newbie questions? :P

(Sorry for the horrible formatting, I'm typing on my phone.)

Even though I'm a Highlander Player, and dabbling in 6s, should I still go? I'd love to meet some of the names I see in this thread; would love to meet all the others as well.

As for gaming goes, I'm assuming we just play whatever people want to do? I heard there's a TF2 tourney as well.

As for the off times, do people just chat about look at other players or games, or something else? I'm only 18, would that be a factor in things?

And since this thing is over multiple days, and its BYOC, I'm assuming we tear down our setups on a day-by-day basis, and would rent hotels or something?

Sorry for such newbie questions. I've been wanting to go to a LAN for a while, and I would love to see if I could make it!

I'm not nearly the most qualified person to answer, but I went to the Seattle LANFest just recently and am heading to this one.

- Yes, you should come by, if it's not wrecking your schedule or budget! This list of players is ridiculous. If anything, it's massive inspiration to get better. I met b4nny and bl4nk at Seattle LANFest and I'd be a liar if I said it didn't push me to do better.
- Correct, you can do whatever you want. The LAN gives you a spot and you do as you will. They'll announce events that are optional to participate in (assuming it's the same style of Seattle, which would be weird if not). Also, judging from this list of players, there will be a ton of non-competitive fun events, too.
- You're also correct about the off-time. And being 18 might be a factor, yes. Really depends on the crowd.
- You don't need to tear down your setup until the end of Sunday. If they do things right it's pretty secure. Some people are renting hotels (me and John), some people will probably sleep at the LAN itself (I did this at Seattle LANFest, was surprisingly not terrible).

Really, if you can make it (time and budget), I can at least highly recommend it (granted, that's only from me). The attendance list alone is a fantastic reason to go. It also helps to be able to bring a friend, but it's not necessary. :)

Eh, I'll get it when I start doing camera around next week. Not a huge deal. It's not like I would post if I couldn't back up what I was saying.

TheStigwhy is it worth it to send you guys back for a rematch? you destroyed them. it didn't make NA tf2 any more popular. maybe instead raise money for a lan in NA?

The reasoning has been covered many times; I'm reasonable and patient, but even I won't reiterate it now. It's somewhere in this thread. Also, you're wrong.

The i49 fundraiser will be up shortly, within a week. We have some swanky nice perks in return for your awesome and generous donations!

#35 Season 13 ESEA-Invite LAN Preview in News
thorn_I don't agree with enigma's ranking at all, his DM is very strong on soldier.

Likewise. We all saw at s12 LAN that he was a playmaker, and with the roster now, that just lets him do exactly that even more.

#17 Season 13 ESEA-Invite LAN Preview in News

Great write up, Slin. This is going to be a crazy awesome LAN.

kwahlsterSo only one team goes to i49?

That is correct, at least, only one from the official TeamFortress.TV fundraiser. If a team wants to go themselves, they can, but it's going to be quite an effort.

Sal's answer is best; intelligence is incredibly hard to define and compare without the specific context it's being measured/used.

#16 New Daft Punk album - Random Access Memories in Off Topic

I'm ridiculously excited for this release; I feel like there's been a huge dearth of funk-based melodies/supports (which is what made me like Daft Punk in the first place) lately in EDM in general. It's also going to be really cool to see the current EDM generation response to an album like what we've heard thus far. I would love at least a little throwback to a strong funk vs electro/dubstep ratio in today's EDM.

EDIT: Listening to some remixes/edits of this theme, and I have to say, this music style is seriously reminding me of the visual style used in Interstella 5555 (an animation with an entirely Daft Punk soundtrack by Leiji Matsumoto, a famous Japanese anime artist who has a distinct style you might recognize if you've seen famous old animes).

#8 Looking for mid tier players for a new ESEA-O team in Recruitment (looking for team)

Met CarboN at LAN, went 3-20 against b4nny's Soldier on MGE, versus my 2-20.

You'll have a good time. Too bad you can't try out for us, but I'm sure we'll scrim against each other some time. :)

#459 my new hud. in Customization
Puke-N-SnotUse & like this HUD. Decided the other day to try some of the options like Hit Crosshairs & Low ammo indicators. Hit crosshairs are working as should but not noticing anything on the Low ammo indicators?

Did you reinstall after the recent update? That generally fixes most HUD problems after Valve updates (short of something like the vaccinator or MvM).

#2 Looking for mge/ammomod partners in TF2 General Discussion

I'll add you when I get back from work (friends list full @_@), because I've been collecting MGE/DM partners as well.

I was thinking of making a regularly scheduled group of some kind, where all of us just pile into a mumble, play on a server, and mentor the lower skilled players if desired. I'm only just in Open, but I do have some IM friends who would like to do this.

atmohttp://i49.tf now redirects to this thread

feel free to add it to your whatsits

That's pretty brilliant; we may want to have it redirect somewhere else (i.e. the indiegogo), but (at least for me) it's much appreciated.
