#33 Twitch now scanning VODs for copyrighted content in Off Topic

Apparently GTA speedrunners are already getting their vods flagged, because of the radio when you drive cars in the game.

#79 Let's talk about Prem in News

There is a psychological aspect of the "skill level dropping" as well. If you imagine yourself on top of prem, playing season after season. The same people that wanted mentoring or signed weapons from you have now played the game for some time. The same people that were perhaps 'mediocre' have now played the game for several seasons. They're active, watching their own demos and striving to become as good as their heroes.

But from the prem players side of things your teammates, your heroes and people you recognize are quitting or taking a break. Season after season they are slowly getting replaced by the newer players that looked up to you, or players you have never heard of. Inside your head there will be the effect of the game "dying" or an illusion that the skill level is turning to shit.

I'm not qualified to speak of how this years prem compares to other seasons, but honestly we've had seasons before where epsilon has completely stomped the tables and there wasn't much hype. What i think is needed is for the top 3 teams to get close and exciting games and for there to be rivalries and hype backing them up. I think the fact that this game is still going strong by the help of the community alone is an incredible feat that everyone can be proud of. Both for highlander and for 6s.

Cookye back in tf2 is a huge #hype for me though!

#52 Pros and Cons of NA League choices in TF2 General Discussion
brownymaster Still, it requires a lot of work to actually open demos and review each Cheat complaint filed. I don't doubt human detecting is still very good, but it takes time.

You're right it does, but you have to agree that banning someone from a league is a huge responsibility that should not be taken lightly, and each case needs a lot of material and reviewing from multiple admins before a decision can be made. I'm one of the AC admins at etf2l.org and we take our job very seriously. Is our way more time consuming? Absolutely, but we have detections from various plugins and the good old VAC ban to save us some time with the more obvious cases. Lots of the detections that the ESEA client does is also made client free from many AC plugins.

As for any American wishing for a new tf2 home, as a European i'd welcome you with open arms. We have a dedicated community and a strong admin team consisting of experienced competitive players. Check out the site and take a look around. Lots of gamers have worked really hard on it ;)

#62 Just Another Hacker in TF2 General Discussion
scrimshawalright socrates how about you take a step back and remember that it was blatant as fuck and there wasn't any way to doubt he was hacking

It's not blatant as fuck if i don't know the poster, or if no proof was given, or especially if the people who felt it was blatant was playing newbie mixes.

Anyways the cheater was caught. Case closed. I'm sorry for bumping this.

#47 Just Another Hacker in TF2 General Discussion

A public shaming or outing like this should never be done without any proof or verification beforehand. What if he was legit? The hivemind mentality of "This guy is cheating, will post video later" should never be done, especially with the vague description of aim/visual assistance. (you realize those two almost sum up mosts cheats in tf2). Even though the video doesn't show his steamid.)

Again i'm not contesting if said player is cheating or not, i'm simply stating this is not the right way to go about it.

#39 TF2 Stream Viewership in TF2 General Discussion

Honestly, i know this horse has been beaten to death but any help from Valve to promote the competitive scene would help the viewer numbers greatly. Look at Dota 2 for example, and how much they focus on the eSports aspect of things there.

I'm not saying this is the only solution. Our community has survived because of the awesomeness of everyone in it so far, but in terms of growth i think support from valve would go a long way. Promoting big events. Embedded streams. Any mention of competitive at all in the main menu. A competitive lobby system. The list goes on..

#53 Patent For HL3 Filed in TF2 General Discussion

This was really fishy anyways. Valve already owns the trademark for Half life. They don't need to file for each sequel, half life 2-3-4-5 is covered by the same trademark.

#4 EU Highlander- where do I start? in TF2 General Discussion

If you've truly "never" played competitive, i think the 9v9 colony mixes are a little too early (although some are listed as "any" div). Many use tf2lobby to kinda get used to the format, but the overall experience there varies greatly from player to player. You should put up a div 6 recruitment post on etf2l, try to get some contacts. Play some mixes etc, get familiar with the scene. Get yourself a microphone if you don't have one already and practice following comms etc.

Also remember you can play sniper in 6s as well, perhaps not full-time but i recommend you to really try both formats and decide afterwards what is preferable to you.

This highlander newcomer guide http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=163882605 explains it way better than i do, and it was made by our trusted HL league admin in etf2l ;)

#49 Most insolent frag. in TF2 General Discussion

I know this video is pretty retarded compared to the incredible cpma videos but
i was playing on a valve pub a year ago and this sniper with 2 hours in TF2 headshots me out of nowhere.

I manage to click F6 (replay) in time, and i thought his reaction was pretty funny.
