#65 Please have S37 in autumn 2020. in TF2 General Discussion

Since Lukas already said it I might as well confirm that our old ascent roster was planning on playing this next season, but right now with an off-season this long, the chances of people losing motivation or deciding to spend energy on other things, are becoming much higher. We didn't wanna break the news this early but since ETF2L seem content with refusing to move the season or even release a proper response to the feedback from many respected top players and the community in general, it looks like we're compelled to tell people now. I agree with what Eemes said as well; why not have a poll on this to get some more clarity on what your players actually want...

#1 Please have S37 in autumn 2020. in TF2 General Discussion

I've been talking to several top prem players and practically no one hasn't been opposed if not indifferent to this decision. I feel like the only way to actually hope for any change is for people to comment on this thread if they are opposed to this decision by ETF2L to move s37 to 2021. Hopefully if enough people complain the admins will feel somewhat compelled to change their minds.

#97 so are y'all gonna be voting for joe biden now in Off Topic
SpuklassyQisnodbki wish there was a way i could vote for neither biden or trump and still make any sort of difference
Little known fact, If a third party gets over 5 percent of the popular vote, they’re eligible for public funding in the next election cycle.
If you want to break the two party system the first step is to have a third party reach this threshold and theyll be able to gain more funding the next election cycle, which means they'll have a larger reach and over time become a major faction. While for the most part, with a few exceptions(Teddy Roosevelt and Bull Moose) we have had two major factions, but these factions have changed over time.
A consequence of voting 3rd party; if that party, let’s say leans more left, is that it will split the democrat votes even more and possibly ensure longer republican terms. I think the real problem is the FPTP-model of the elections. But sure you can advocate for a third party candidate, but it will very likely guarantee at least 3 terms of the candidate you absolutely do not want.
except US presidents can only serve 2 terms

Change candidate to party in that case, the point still stands.

If you and a significant amount of others are unhappy with your party, why would you continue to align yourself with them? In this case, your party isn't aligned by ideology but through opposition so its already essentially broken. Teddy Roosevelt broke up the Republican vote and allowed Woodrow Wilson to win, but the party was able to realign itself under Harding.

My original point wasn’t that voting 3rd party wouldn’t result in any change but rather asking if the risk of having more terms with a republican president is a consequence you are willing to risk enduring. And like it or not, having Biden in office is a much bigger opportunity for pushing progressive policies than you would ever get with Trump, so saying that the only thing that aligns them is opposition is ludicrous. Anyone who’s a #BernieOrBust on this forum doesn’t seem to realize how much Bernie has already pulled the Democrats left in the primary and deciding to sit out the election because you haven’t come to terms with the fact that the democratic electorate isn’t nearly has progressive as they are.

Again, my original point was that while voting 3rd party is a viable option if you seek change, you still have to be ready to endure more years of right-wing policies as a price for the change you wish to see.
