R3VoltYeah, the game is too fast paced and frantic for any good sniping.
use the sniper rifle rocket launcher and say that again
rip in peace lift key and helix fossil
obviously blaze is stealing dummy's hyphen. that's terrible.
snackshow is it really? any like paragraph long reviews from fellow tf2 players? looks easy as hell from what i've seen, everything does a ton of damage
Okay, here we go.
If you're expecting it to be like Call of Duty, then you'll be disappointed. If you think it's like Call of Duty, then I say you're an idiot. People, even myself, say it's like Mirror's Edge because of the "parkour" the game brings, but take that with a grain of salt. Yes, there's obviously wall running, wall hanging and what give you, but not necessarily to the extent of Mirror's Edge. It's better in my opinion, anyway. You would think the game is mainly based around fighting in mechs or Titans, but from what we've seen via the beta, they're trying to balance out how often you'll use your Titans and how often you'll be playing solely as a pilot. This is always a good thing, so as long as they do a good enough job like they have with the beta when it comes down to that, then there won't be problems forcing you to play in a Titan or out of one more than the other.
There are some clear balance issues, but not game breaking. Really, the only balance issue is the Smart Pistol. Basically what it is, is you lock on to anyone on the opposing team within, I'd say, ~15 feet within a certain FOV, which is ultimately less than your entire FOV. It locks on 3 times but you can shoot after any lock on and hit them once. One hit per lock on up to 3 times. I think it locks on to the head, but I can't remember. Either way, locking on 3 times is enough to kill them. You can unlock an attachment which locks on quicker (and something else which isn't as important) so that makes it more silly. But yeah, that's that. I'm sure they understand this and will update either on launch day or quickly after launch. As far as other balance issues, there really isn't any. In my personal opinion, I'd say trying for kills while wall hanging is a little too difficult. And not in a "you need to be skilled to do it" kind of way. I guess it's inconvenient against anyone who isn't a grunt.
Speaking of grunts, which I'm sure you know about, play sort of in the same way they would in DOTA, LoL or any other RTS. They help provide a distraction and also help "try" to kill other grunts/pilots. They'll also help you with objectives. Easy to kill, embarrassing to die from, like basically any other game.
There are these things called burn cards. They work sort of like perks in Call of Duty, except they're not permanent and you don't "equip" them on your load out. You complete challenges to get a burn card. Up to, I believe, 25 cards in your "deck". Before the game starts (when you're in the server) or before you respawn, you can select only one burn card that gives a special effect (amped up weapons or something more passive) which lasts until you die. You can only do this 3 times a game. Some people don't like them, some people do, some don't mind. I like them and don't mind as long as they don't get ridiculous. There's an amped up sniper rifle that turns it basically into a sniper rifle rocket launcher with explosive bullets. It's fun but I wouldn't mind a nerf. Summary: temporary perk-esque rewards for doing well/completing challenges.
The maps are great. They're beautiful, not too washed out if at all. They're incredibly balanced for being non-symmetrical. Great balance between being able to do your parkour shit as a pilot and roomy enough for Titans (this is less so in the map made more for pilots but still well made for Titans).
Non-burn card weapon balance right now is great save the Smart Pistol. We can only use, I believe, 5 weapons, excluding anti-titan/secondary weapons, but aside from the SP, they're balanced well. Sniping, in the beta, requires two shots to the body or one shot on someone who is hurt in order to get a kill. One shot headshot will kill instantly. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure it's hitscan based for non-projectiles. I could be wrong with sniping though. You might need to lead your shots. I haven't paid attention.
Some people think rounds end too quickly, but I'm more concerned about the 60-80 intermissions. I don't care how long or short a round is, as long as I'm playing.
Overall, I think the game is amazing even if I'm just playing the beta. I've always been careful with impressions on a game when I'm only playing the beta, but not this time. I'm loving literally every second of it. There hasn't been a time yet where I die and don't know why. When you die, it's nearly 100% your fault. The game is well balanced, but yet again save the Smart Pistol. I'm loving it and will probably continue to do so. It probably won't be a Call of Duty killer like people keep discussing, but I hope to Bill Nye the game isn't one of those where it's super hyped then basically dies a few months later.
My honest rating? 9/10. Not sure how it will be when the game is released. Have fun.
I'm curious as to why this would actually be an issue.

abby & jay leno, pls save us
i read what it was about on a reddit thread and apparently the votes go for 10 seconds
can someone fill me in on this anarchy and democracy stuff
tomroadrunnerAlso, the movement is really useful when trying to take titans out on foot. Find an alley, double wall jump off both walls repeatedly, then land on a titan's back without him knowing you're there, then just start pounding away.
There should probably be more opportunities, but even now, it can make a huge difference.
the game tells you when someone rodeo'd your titan while you're in it
OK_RickHas a very CoD like feel
Maybe it's just me but I don't see how it feels like Call of Duty. Feels nothing like it.
