#33 CommanderX's Blog - i58 Player Rankings in TF2 General Discussion
TheWandererjdmTheWandereroutside of and in i58. I also feel the potratyal of non-EU teams was a bit biased
Okay well firstly this is about i58 exclusively, not other LANs, not out of LANs

And there were 2 EU teams in the finals so that should speak of the players to some degree
Fair point. But what I am saying is you can't just base rankings for a player off just i58 in terms of performance.

You certainly can when it's a ranking of performance at i58.....

WARHURYEAHThis process was led by the crème de la prèm of each region’s competitive players, in order to take advantage of their deep understanding of the game.
From what I saw in that tweet this definitely didn't happen.

It's worth pointing out that that tweet was a second meeting that happened because etf2l admins were not able to make the original one. It doesn't fully represent the balance of the discussion.

Having said that, I definitely don't think there was enough player representation. Particularly from Europe.

#35 Valve limiting coaches in CS in CSGO General Discussion

To what principle are you appealing when you say it "should" be this way or that way? It could be either, it's just a preference for what you value in the game. The crux here is that valve are completely disconnected from the scene and forcing this decision at the expense of years of holistic growth. It's also massively hypocritical as this sort of organic process is exactly what they preach as being their method and the reason for their inaction the rest of the time. CS has succeeded in spite of valve; the fact that almost everyone involved in making it a success finds this decision so ridiculous says a lot.

I don't understand where half your points are coming from. At no point did I say you shouldn't ask for computers and hotel rooms, but just ask for them - don't pretend you are slumming it and exploring every possible avenue when this entire thing is completely half assed, reeking of entitlement and about two months shy of being in a fashion timely enough to not warrant a bit of humility in the plea.

The monitor thing is fair enough if that's the case, but if you can dip into savings to repay them later I don't really understand why that's not an option for LAN since you will soon be paid extortionate amounts of money to attend school (whilst having 0 outgoings) if my understanding of the Danish education system is correct. It's fairly obvious you just don't want to, which I wouldn't bother to criticise on its own but when coupled with a post like the original is very disingenuous.

#32 Official Full Tilt i58 Fundraiser in TF2 General Discussion

This has to be one of the most BS fund raisers I've ever seen in this game. I don't object to fundraisers at all, I'm aware that people can donate as they see fit but there is so much deliberate misdirection here.

"We have also been able to reduce costs by contributing individually where we can.."
What does this mean exactly? As far as I can tell the only expenses that aren't listed in the breakdown is the £40 it will cost kos and mike collectively to get to the LAN, and Mikes accommodation which is entirely separate. The tickets were given to you for free which is left out of this information (so potential donators are led to believe you actually bought something on your own), are you honestly asking people to believe that despite "caring only about LAN" for the past 6 months that the six of you can only come up with enough money for two British people to travel to a British LAN, and even go as far as asking for £60 for another British person to get to the event.. Considering one of your players just dropped £250 or so on a monitor that he doesn't need (at all) earlier this week, this is just bullshit.

"and shoving more people into a hotel room than is advised."
5 people in two rooms. Considering there is already next-to free "rough" accommodation at the event, asking for one hotel room seems entirely sufficient. Fair enough if you want to get two, but don't make it sound like you are significantly cutting corners here. This is one guy sleeping on the floor, maybe you rotate so it's a different person on the floor for one night each. It's completely disingenuous to even suggest that this is a noteworthy sacrifice, it's just carefully worded to maintain the farce that you've done anything or made any sort of contributions as a team.

You even ask for money for a PC for alle when he plays on a laptop at home, yet still try to maintain the impression you are keeping this as low-budget as possible? There are also numerous viable options for free PCs that certain members of your team definitely know about, but instead go straight to asking for money. I guarantee if you don't hit the fundraising goal, you will still have six players at LAN with entirely adequate computers and monitors.

It seems to me that you need roughly half of the money you're asking for, and the fact you've been talking about going to this event for so long makes it ridiculous that only kos and mike can cover/contribute to their own costs. I'm aware you had a "sponsor" until a few months ago and this will probably be the excuse of choice, but it's really not a good one when you consider what that sponsor was and how long ago that became obvious even to you guys. Also to be clear I'm not suggesting people shouldn't donate, I hope they still do because the event is better with you there but just be honest about the circumstances and most people will still donate to see a good event. No need to trick the rest.

AdebisiHmm, want Froyo (and Ronin) at I58, but am European...

Don't let b4nnys xenophobia fool you. Europeans have contributed significantly to NA fundraisers every year - but don't expect any gratitude. Only donate if you want to see europeans get smashed!!
