all the hudmakers are busy updating their huds instead of making new ones
and tbh the only new hudmakers coming to prominence rn are eevove, face2face and smesi (whos finally hitting his stride imo after a series of failed and lackluster projects). there are a lot of WIP projects out there but stuff like this takes a while to release
cirlo(their CEO even made a tweet about i58tf2!)
i couldn't find it anywhere :(
from what ive heard from whisker and miggy eric is the most responsive of everyone on the tf2 team
Chicago is by far the best location to host something like this. Accessible from both WC and EC and no long connecting flights to WC for European teams. AFAIK the only good LAN center in Chicago is Ignite though and that's not that big of a venue (you could probably talk to Lange more about the specifics) but considering they host TOTH now and hosted WCRV in the past the TF2 community definitely would have a line in on them (also from looking at it the layout is kind of weird: https://puu.sh/qUADm/c0cebb9ec4.jpg)
also talking to shdwpuppet would be better cause hes def done more research than i have on Chicago/Indianapolis/etc
I personally know of (and have been to) a venue called Gamers HQ in Third Lake (a Chicago suburb) that hosts a bunch of smash/fgc stuff. I've been there, it's pretty nice, but it's honestly pretty small too... http://www.gamershq.net/ Vro is the organizer there and he's a super awesome guy (and great at melee to boot), he would at least be receptive to the idea and point you somewhere
I've honestly been theorycrafting on this since WCRV ended because I didn't get to go and I was really really realLY sad about it.
I have a whole text document full of weird dreams. I haven't had one about tf2 (that I've written down at least) but I did have one about smash.
So me and a bunch of top smashers were going on a race thing to Washington DC. And we got there and we had to navigate this like maze thing on an island. And the only thing I remember is that gravy was there and he wanted to call it gravy island. So we finish whatever we were doing and I take pictures and stuff and we go to aldis. This aldis had a lunch counter so we finished our grocery shopping and I go over to my dad (who is now hbox) and hes like spreading cream cheese on a wafer And I ask him what he's doing And he said "the eating part" and I was like "the eating part?". Then I woke up.
I was staying at a friend's house and he said that I said the eating part out loud before waking up.
Here's another
So I went up into space with a few of my friends. Apparently one of my friends' dad was a NASA guy or
something and he had some kind of decommissioned shuttle or whatever. Anyway, we get up into space and do
some stuff and for some reason we play Mario Kart 8 (i know because I had a video of it on my tablet for some
reason (in the dream not irl obviously)). Apparently someone forgot to keep the pressure in check because
the shuttle starts wobbling like crazy. We had to make a crash landing in a field, but everyone was fine.
I got back home (apparently we crashed in Nebraska or something) and the only evidence I had that the whole
thing happened was the Mario Kart 8 video. Crazy shit. Never staying up until 5am again.
kevin played from hotel internet during his vacation (!!) in the hotel lobby on a laptop once to sub for one of our matches this man is A+
this is a very weird graph
shoutout to my boy dreamboat for finally showing how good he is at talking about the video game
shoutout to muma for finally making it
shoutout to bear for pounding in the open group
shoutout to war for being the best analyst on the planet
shoutout to extine for being an awesome stage host
Setletflatlineseagull hosted the finals but all the overwatch was contained in his own chat
I assume that gave the extra 2k viewers? from 5k to 7k?
dont think hosting is reflected in viewcounts? not sure
ah yes the classic "two people beef online and then realize that theyre actually kinda cool at LAN" story
heartwarming, truly
