#55 The Mouse/Mousepad Thread (last updated Sep. 9, 2013) in Hardware
wonderlandill explain cause apparently im one of those nerdlords ur referring to (lol)

so like were gonna go back to 2000-2004 when I started gaming (i was 10 or something) but anyways, back then the ballmouse was dying (ZeRo4 still used one im sure^^) and m$ optical mice were god. and of the m$ mice, everyone used the light grey ime 3.0, every top player/pro/legend in quake, cs, ut, mohaa, and cod all I saw was the 3.0 (and occasionally other m$ mice).

but times change and some other companies start making optical mice, I lost my 3.0 so I had the pleasure of using a dell optical mouse for a bit (wtf! :(). like a lot of ppl I moved on to an mx518 cause it has cool dents and its new or whatever, then the g5 (first corded laser mouse, moar dpi!! thx a lot logitech). m$ stops making the 3.0 (the wmo and imo 1.1 gain popularity amongst m$ fans), the dpi bandwagon is in full swing and numerous awful mice are released. eventually ppl start realizing laser sucks. the 3.0 is brought back due to popular demand (but the build quality is inferior to the original). ESR mousescore comes out confirming laser sucks and then the max control speed bandwagon starts. people buy the mx300/500 solely because it got first place in the test and they think they are superhumans who move their mouse at 4m/s (lol). The death adder is released with an optical sensor, (it scores very well on ESR) and I get one. but it just doesn't feel good :o( so im sad. so I go back to my original 3.0 <3 cause its a legend. Sujoy admits that his ESReality test doesn't matter that much, and goes back to his wmo stating 'There is something unquantifiably great about it. Just feels right.' And to this day many Quake pros use the WMO, IMO 1.1 and IME 3.0. I know m$ mice aren't perfect, mine has the scroll wheel is removed cause it always breaks, it has aftermarket mousefeet, and I have to manually overclock the USB port. I tried so many mice (I'm sorry for cheating on u), but I always come back to m$ 400dpi despite the flaws. Newschoolers will hate but they just don't understand, ily4evr <3.0

Thanks for the info. I've seen its flaws e.g scroll wheel, mouse 4/5 but it still looks like a really solid mouse. My current mouse feels really inconsistent which is probably because of a shitty sensor and that accel wave effect Koeitje brought up. Just want a light mouse that feels good and can handle some twitch stuff without inconsistencies so this sounds good.

Koeitjehttp://www.esreality.com/?a=longpost&id=1265679&page=5

After 1.6m/s it starts falling off.

http://esreality.com/?a=longpost&id=1300293&page=2

Deathadder hits 3.92/ms before it goes bad (at 1800dpi, lower dpi settings are worse)

If you like the ergonomics and have the money the ec1/2 evo are a better choice

well I use about 16cm/360, so that literally won't affect me ever.
don't care about theoretical statistics of stuff if it's not actually going to happen.

KoeitjeDo people buy the IME because it's cheap? As far as I know it has pretty big amounts of negetive acceleration at high speeds?

i've never heard that
price is a big factor, but i've heard the ergonomics/sensor are really good and just wanted to try optical.
if I didn't mind paying more I would have got a zowie fk

MS IE 3.0 is pretty sweet yes?
heard that it's reliable from multiple nerdlords so probably going to get one to replace my 1337 tier cyborg v3

edit: on its way, no regretz

povohatHaving said that, Sheep uses a g9x (adns-9500) and it appears as though he isn't struggling that much with the inconsistent nature of its tracking.povohatisn't struggling that much

cheap pad(~$7.50 USD+free shipping), 60x35cm. arrived a month or so ago and I love it, still in perfect condition.
imo only downside is its thickness/weight, pretty thin so might get raised patches. doesn't bother me though.
looks like you're not listing unbranded products but this might catch someone's interest.

BenroadsThis stuff is handled by a bunch of vmt files but you can customize them, however it will not work on sv_pure 2.

From looking at a couple of these "custom scopes" I found what you should be looking for.

http://tf2.gamebanana.com/sprites/cats/69

(I use one that removes the teamcolored dot but I can't find it again to save my life)

http://puu.sh/4iMKL.png
In here there should be two additional folders called "effects and hud" the effects folder handles effects such as the team colored dot from when you're scoped in and the hud files handles the charge bar and other things in the actual scope.

http://puu.sh/4iMN4.png

Those are the files that were in the hud folder. I don't know anything about editing/making vmt or vtf files so you'll need to look for that information elsewhere. Hope this was helpful.

I thought that due to cl_drawhud 0 removing it entirely that setting something to visible/enable 0 could possibly have the same effect, clearly not though :(
thanks for the help.

almostjphave you seen that famous HUD? Still waiting for release :(
Here you can find more news about it
http://ejphud.wordpress.com/2013/08/09/tf2-hud-update-news/

would love to salvage the menu from that, don't know how anyone could play with "HEALTH"/"AMMO" on their screen and squareish techno font though.
