#10 Need help documenting b4nny in TF2 General Discussion

I appreciate the feedback. I feel as though I haven't done a great job communicating my question given the response it's gotten but that's entirely on me. I did not intend to frame it as though a potential video would focus on these negative/drama-focused topics exclusively, I only posted here because his excellence and dominance of competitive TF2 has been documented so well and I haven't had any trouble recording those aspects in my research so far. I just wanted to ensure there weren't some major parts of his history I was missing out on as I have been trying to construct a comprehensive timeline, but I see how the way I worded my initial post could be interpreted as a very drama-oriented and uncharitable dissection of b4nny's legacy.

Apologies for it coming across poorly, as I have been treating my research with a lot of care thus far. I personally have immense respect for b4nny, and if I did ultimately follow through on this idea I would 100% want him to be involved in the creation process, would do a proper interview and would want him to be happy with the final product.

#5 Need help documenting b4nny in TF2 General Discussion
RAONICALIASelmaxoThe situation with clockwork displays to me his absolute insistence on victory. Ignoring the potential awkwardness of a relationship like that because clockwork was his best chance at picking up championships is, to me at least, pretty indicative of his victory at all costs mindset towards the game.

Trashtalk/Twitter stuff is also important in unpacking his personality with other high level players. I think most people would agree that he has a very big ego when it comes to competitive TF2 and I want to make sure I don't miss any key examples of him feuding with other people in my analysis of his character.
Although I see where you're coming from with the character analysis, treading very lightly on these events would be the only way to do so without harming the scene. unfortunately doing that itself seems unlikely when you consider that mentioning them will almost certainly lead to a non-competitive fanbase reigniting old drama, and breathing notoriety into b4nny's name. That's a horrible thing to do when you consider how integral he is to the NA invite scene

Perhaps I didn't do a good job of phrasing my initial post. It's not that I want to exclusively focus on these bad parts of him, I myself have a huge amount of respect for b4nny and would want this to frame him in a positive light due to his sheer dominance over the competitive scene. It's more that these niche beefs/interactions with other players are very hard to find relative to his long list of achievements. I have already gone season by season documenting his dominance as that is all very accessible through places like comp.tf and Liquipedia.

RAONICALIASWhy would talking about b4nny's beef on Twitter / past trashtalk and how clockwork dated his ex "[represent comp TF2] to a wider audience"?

Well, with the research I have done so far it is seeming like a full documentary on b4nny would be the most accessible way of introducing a wider audience to competitive TF2 on YouTube. Though, that is not set in stone, there is still potential for a more broad video about competitive TF2 but this is where my research has lead me presently.

Again though, not even sure if my video about competitive TF2 will necessary be a full on documentary about b4nny, but right now that seems to be the most captivating way of introducing people to this side of the game. (I'm thinking of EmpLemon's documentary on Hungrybox which pierced into a mainstream audience)

#1 Need help documenting b4nny in TF2 General Discussion

Hey there,

My name is elmaxo and I have been making TF2 videos for close to two years now. One part of TF2 which I don't think has ever pierced into the mainstream on YouTube is the competitive scene, and I really want to have a good go at representing this side of the game to a wider audience.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I've been doing a lot of research into b4nny specifically as of late (i.e. going through each season he has played, all the roster changes that have occurred under him, beefs he has had etc.) and its proven to be quite a challenge. I can't say I am particularly good at navigating decade old threads over here, and I basically just wanted to ask for a hand from you guys in documenting the most notable beefs and interactions he has had with other high level players.

Some stuff I have noted down so far include:

  • Season 12 ESEA-I he left Leviathan Gaming due to his friend enroyt's lack of commitment
  • His trash talking with Thalash prior to i58
  • His recent restructuring of froyotech which has put an end to his dominance (in the short term, at least)
  • In a similar vein to the last one, froyotech's restructuring in ESEA-I Season 21
  • His insistence on winning, even at a time where clockwork was dating his ex-girlfriend
  • Cutting ash mid series due to his attitude in the ESEA-I Season 20 playoffs
  • Some of his beefs with people like FUNKe/Muselk on Twitter

I'm not looking to create a hit piece or anything like that on the guy, depending on how the research shapes up, I'd really like to interview him and ask some questions personally but I want to be truthful in my representation of him. On a surface level, he reminds me a lot of the Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant types who are insistent on victory at any costs. Anyway, I am super appreciative of any help you guys can give! Thanks!
